Sparkling Water is Invisible Soda ?

A few days ago I wanted something different to drink and saw a water bottle that said "sparkling water". I thought, eh, why not. It has to be some sort of flavored water and it sparkles. Maybe this is what those new age twilight vampire thingie people drink to maintain their glittery complexion.
On the first drink I noticed something that I haven't felt or tasted in a long time- gas in my water ! It felt as if I were drinking soda, but without the syrup and sugar and aluminum can. Woah ! So is this actually a soda? Or is this just a part of the soda that is the basis for it.
I see that it has the carbonation. But if this is truly soda water, then why is it not labeled as so? Is there a difference between the two? I have not drank a soda in about 10 years, did I just break that streak? Is is just the sugary liquid candy that makes it a "soda" ?
Whats the truth behind "Sparkling Water ?" Why am I so confused and dwelling on it ?
Why. .. WHy. . . WHY ! ! !

I drink plain sparkling water every day. What is sparkling water? Here what Wikipedia says:
Carbonated water (also known as club soda, soda water, sparkling water, seltzer water, or fizzy water) is water into which carbon dioxide gas under pressure has been dissolved. ... This process, known as carbonation, is a process that causes the water to become effervescent.

I find it really depends on the brand as some are better than others.

Yeah, it isn't soda, Plethos... It just wishes it was! (Personally, I am not a big fan of sparkling water. I'd rather drink juice of some type.)

@Plethos I'm always stable, Plethos. I just get lost, even driving on roads I've driven for years. I am getting used to that feeling now.
The feeling I don't want to get used to is when I forgot home and Pretty. She had to come outside and take my keys away because I didn't know her and couldn't believe she wanted me to go into her house (our house!) I was going to drive away!
I thought my GPS was messed up on my phone.
It was quite a while before I started asking her questions about the things she was telling me.... that scared me pretty good!

There are a variety of these drinks. They aren't soda but they aren't as healthy as regular old water either.

It depends how you define "soda". If by that you mean any carbonated drink containing a sweetener, flavouring and colouring, then 'sparkling water' (flavoured or otherwise) is not 'soda' because it contains little or no sweetener and no colour. It is simply carbonated water with a fruit flavour added.

You bring up a good point. I'm a big fan of carbonated water , so here's my take. I think it is carbonated water with flavors. There's a wide variety of flavors - ranging from sweet like the one you have there, to only a hint of flavor (the brand Klarbrun comes to mind)

The way you describe it must be like Perrier sparkling water.
I was confused on my first sip. Because I'm expecting water and just smooth and not carbonated too.
