Shopping At Your Local Walmart

How many here are fans of Walmart? Do you have a lot of them nearby you can choose from? What is your favorite time of day to shop there? We live in an area where there are a lot of different Walmarts to choose from. Within 30 mins of us any direction if you add them all together, there is probably at least 10. Most of them are 24 hr ones which are good. I have noticed that no one of them has all the same items in them, and most of them offer different prices for the same type of products as well. You often can find items there cheaper than online and often items that you may never find online. I have learned many times though if you see something at a really good buy, or limited supply better stock up if you can afford it. And unless they have changed, many times if it is limited to one Walmart many of the others will not refund on that purchase unless it is the same store. We personally enjoy shopping at Walmart. Especially when it is getting close to back to school. As I do a lot of Writing, I always tend to stock up on some notebooks then. But there are many other items you can get there besides like the Dollar Tree that are great bargains as well. We have been known many times to shop after 1 am as my husband works Swing shift. A lot of the time the stores are a lot more empty and easy to shop at as well. Do you like to shop there and good or bad experience?

I've had some issues with Walmart as a company....they carry an item....undercut the competition.....then when all the stores that sold that item have closed they suddenly no longer carry that item...I shop there for some things but I've gotten so I don't care tomgomshopping much any more.

Yes, this can be an issue and now if you check out their website, you will not find they actually are using that site now to sell a lot of other items that they actually do not carry in their stores, and are from other stores, etc. I think overall, they are quickly forgetting what Sam Walton started his stores out to be.

We like going and checking out some of the garden and patio type items this time of yr and usually end up buying a new piece or two.

@KrauseHome It can be nice to see their selection. I like looking at what they have, even though we don't get any patio set. We don't have the space for it t the moment.

I go there probably at least 2 times a week... At least!. We have about 3 or 4 in fairly close proximity that we use often. Most around here are not 24 hours so I do like to get there first thing in the morning to shop. Before 8am. After that it's a madhouse. I get most of my pet food here and quite a bit of my own food. I have noticed that different stores have different items.

When we had a dog, we did find this a Great place to get pet food. For other things grocery wise we also now utilize Winco a lot. But it is interesting from time to time seeing what each Walmart carries and the different prices for the same items.

@RubyHawk I have one that has more cat food that I buy (jumbo cans) so I shop there often. The downside is they are not a store with a big grocery dept so the food items I want for myself can not be got there. It is really a pain in the butt.

Walmarts came to our area a bit late in the game . . . but yes, they are somewhat everywhere now. Locally, I can choose from 3. If I go, I go right after dropping the kids off at school . . . it's pretty quiet until late morning. It's mostly a good experience, but I have had several experiences where the employees couldn't quite answer my questions.

@much2say Yep the less you pay someone the worse they act unless the Management is teaching them to be better.

Yes, that is actually becoming more common. Customer service is nothing like it used to be.

We have two here. I haven't been there since before Christmas. I don't go often because they are usually so busy. When I do go there I usually get good deals.

Yes at times they can be Super busy. For groceries on the most part we have found somewhere else we prefer. But there are some things we always have to go to Walmart for.

I tend to avoid WalMart near holidays or the beginning of school. I made the bad choice of going on Dec. 23 last year and it got crazy really fast. I just found out today that the one WalMart here is pretty small and, of all things, it closes @ 9PM. How weird is that? A girl I worked with once went to college in Arkansas and told me stories of going there in the wee hours and having shopping cart races. I'd never have been brave enough to do that, but she made it sound like lots of fun.

Shopping Cart races? I can imagine people trying things like that there. I have seen people running thru a store even adults during the day even in one of ours. But having one close at 9 that does seem early.

I sometimes shop at Walmart - I agree they are much cheaper than Target for the most part. We have a couple neatby but they are not 24 hours.

The 24 hr ones are convenient when you need certain things. We do tend to have certain things no matter what we buy there that are cheapest and convenient.

I have had nothing but good shopping eperiences at Wa-mart . My one son is the manager at Walmart so I got a 10% discount when I shopped there. My son would call me to buy things when they were on clearance and he would put back things that I wanted so I could buy them. Now that we moved I do not get the discount anymore or good deals on clearance items.

There still are some times depending on which Walmart we go to that have some great deals. We found one we have gone too not a good one at night, because they refuse to honor price stickers that even Walmart has posted on their items if they scan differently. So we now only go to that one when we absolutely have too and only before like 8 p.m.

Our Walmart is only about 10 minutes away and it has a whole supermarket section too and the prices are pretty good. I do shop there frequently

We tend to go there now only for certain things that you can only really get there. Otherwise now most of our Grocery shopping is being done at Winco.

Wow!! You must live in a smaller rural area. Sometimes they still have some Cute clothes, but I tend to like Target now more for clothes. (Walmart seldom sells Skirts)

@KrauseHome no, we just dont have a walmart close than that. Target doesnt have much of anything here.

Yes it is frustrating though because although they always have good stuff they seem to have a limited supply so if you dont stock up those items could be gone and never restocked.

Yes, depending on what the item is that is a fact, But others are the same way it seems especially if one of them has a Huge sale going on.

Compare to other supermarkets here, I think Walmart doesn't do very well here. Here the popular supermarkets are Jesco, Carrefour and PARKnSHOP. At first, Walmart went to our market later and this is why it couldn't get a better location in the downtown. And I have been there several times and it is a little disappointing because their products are not in a good order. The price is not so competitive and I can't find some brands I used to buy. This is why I am not very interested in there.

You have a lot more markets where people sell their wares they make and grow more of their own there don't you? That would make it harder to shop places like this.

@KrauseHome Actually there not many markets in the city here. The farmers plant and the sellers sell them in the markets.

I wonder why they have different prices for the same item at the store. Is it due to different manufacturing dates? Sometimes the old stock will be at lower price, and the newer stock will be at higher price. Perhaps you can check the manufactured date or expiry date to confirm.

I have never figured out the rhyme nor reason on this. Even different than online a lot of the time, and items you may not find on their website. That is why it is interesting sometimes to go to some of the different Walmarts in our area looking for things.

Oh good I am happy to hear that I'm not the only one who noticed that WalMart carries different stuff at different places. I like Walmarts - the prices seem good and quality is fair on most items.
