Difference between Nook and Kindle?

United States

I was wondering if anyone here had a Nook. There was no going back and forth and comparing between the two for me. I just bought the kindle without considering whether the Nook would be better. I honestly don't know if Barnes and Nobles (the supplier / inventor of the nook) are an international chain or not.. so maybe only the US (and Canada?) citizens can answer this for me. What is the nook like (if you have one) and why did you choose it over the kindle? I suppose one reason why i didn't consider the Nook at all is the potential for B&N to go out of business. I'm not saying they will, but it is just a book chain. Amazon is a conglomerate and more stable. Do you remember when Borders (Another book chain) closed it's doors?

I have a kindle and I like it. The reason I chose a kindle is because Amazon is where I buy a majority of my ebooks. I do buy from Barnes and Noble, but mostly paperbacks.

I have only bought from B&N when someone gives me a gift card to there... I think the majority of people now know to get an amazon one.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Same here. I only buy from B&N if I have a gift card or if they have a good sale on books.

I do not have either device, but had thoughts similar about Nook. I think I could get bogged down easily in technology.

I was thinking that very thing today.. but in a more general sense. It seems like everyone uses their gadgets for everything now. Shopping List? On the phone. Calculator? Phone. Calendar? Phone... etc etc etc. I do love my kindle though.

I have had a Nook for many years and can read it in bed or the car or any place I happen to be. The Nook has a light in it that you can make brighter or dimmer. You can also make the letters bigger or smaller. I love my Nook.

I'm not looking for one at the moment. I had a kindle and it broke, the second kindle I bought too. I use the kindle app, but I've been reading mostly paperback / hardback here lately.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes it does have deals. Go on Barnes and Noble to research it and see if it fits your needs.
