Playing in the Puddles

Last week our four year old granddaughter spent two days here.
With all the rain we've had there were puddles everywhere.
When school was finished for the day, we walked around and waded through every puddle we could find..
It's been a long time since I deliberately went wading .
Do you remember the last time you splashed in a puddle like a child?

We had a lot of muddy splatters to wash out or her pants.....but she enjoyed it. Then grandpa took her to the barn to show her his brand new baby chicks.

You need to try it again as an adult. It's still enjoyable.

I have long forgotten the fun of wading through puddles. I guess I better get the granddaughter some muck boots so we can play outside in the puddles!

@Morleyhunt I can't wait for warm summer weather when we can venture out barefoot and walk through the warm puddles. She will love that.

@Morleyhunt Oh my goodness, a very bad day. I have always lived in a big city until I was in my twenties, not a lot of fun with the puddles in a city.

In the summer will still walk barefoot through the puddles. Right now it's a bit too cold to go barefoot.

Haha that sounds like so much fun! last time I played in puddles was when I was a teenager, probably 14 or 15. It was great. Nothing like the feeling of water going right into your shoes when you actually chose to have it there haha

As long as it's not cold....and I don't have to be somewhere looking presentable....I enjoy walking in the rain.

@Morleyhunt As a kid, we tend to explore things. It can be relatable to young ones nowadays.

It was a lot of fun. There are many who would discourage this because we did have a bit of a mess to clean up....but to stay out of the puddles would have limited where we could go.

Thank you. My granddaughter and I had a great time. The weather was perfect the puddles were plentiful. (3 acres of grass and trees and water...)

I don't remember anytime recently that I deliberately waded through the puddles. I do remember one of my children taking off her boots in the winter) and wading through the puddles......this would be Sandra's mom....who also painted herself with mud when she was two. She is so fastidious now....shed cringe if she saw me taking her daughter through the puddles.....

If I know I have waterproof foot gear on, I will walk through rather than around puddles....but I'm usually careful not to splash too much. Having a partner in crime made it so much better.

When my children were aged about 8 and under...we had had several weeks with no rain and a water shortage.....when the rain started to fall....we went and ran around outside in our bare feet and clothes as if we were under a sprinkler. My husband thought we were crazy.....but it was fun.

It's always interesting to watch a child's response to some older sister childlike behaviour.

Having grandchildren makes it so much easier to participate in childish pursuits. Splashing in puddles can be fun.
