A full bookshelf is a happy bookshelf.

This picture is one I took of two of the built in shelves that hold my books. Ive bought two hardcover books since taking this picture but otherwise this is what it looks like currently.
My question to you is how do you organize your home bookshelf? By author? By genre? Or by book size? I want to organize mine a little better.

Mine is extremely disorganized, I have hundreds of books overflowing the shelf spaces I have available...there are three crates/boxes of books besides all these

@JohnRoberts Hey, what is life without picking on old men who watch movies made for old women?

I do not really organize according to authors or genre, though I have a few more books than that.
I stopped buying books years ago, and had given away the bulk of my collection.
Right now I have about 100 to 150 books left.
These are in 2 languages. I put all books of the same height together, then I can stack up a few books on top.

The only big supply of books I have are my cookbooks, which I don't use often, but glad I have them.

I just organize it the way I want it. If any one will look at my shelves probably they won't catch on and get lost.
But I expect they will have a book or two in their hands before they move on to another shelf.

@thislittlepennyearns Maybe 500? I'm not sure. I have too many. Ive been buying books since high school and I've got into binge to it when in College. Too many I guess.

I have always organized my book shelf by book size. Seems the practical way to do.

@thislittlepennyearns just two, English and Malay. I have a comic book written in Chinese but I don't think that count. There's only one after all.

I love books, real books, not those digital things they call books, LOL. I organize my bookcases by subject usually. All my craft books together, and my music books, Confederate history, Photoshop, etc.

Mine aren't too well organized right now, but I usually organize them by size and subject. At this house, I have four very large cases and one with only four shelves. The other house has four bookcases that go over my head full of our personal library and several more cases full of book inventory, not counting the room full of boxes of book inventory. We won't even discuss the 16 x 16 ft warehouse shed full of books on shelves and in boxes. I'm trying to get the inventory cleared out so I can get my house back. Currently, my living room here is full of book boxes that need to go. Since I have to keep track of the value of every inventory book I'm donating, it takes a lot of clerical work to get rid of them. I'm still thinking I might sell a few of the more valuable ones.

Mostly mine are organised by genre although some books are too tall for some shelves.

I usually do my book organization either by size or by category.
