It's Almost Lenten Week

This Sunday, Roman Catholics will observe/celebrate the Palm Sunday. It is the start of the week-long observance of Lent. It is the day when the faithfuls carry palm fronds or olive leaves to have it blessed before the start of the Holy Mass. It signifies welcoming of Jesus by the followers who treated Him like a King. So they waved olive fronds to greet Him and even put carpet on his path. Then on Good Friday, they crucified the one they called "King" during Palm Sunday! There are so many interpretations of this.

We are celebrating Vince's birthday on Saturday and on Sunday most of our guests will be heading to the Palm Sunday masses.

Yes, it is a religious practice by Catholics; an act symbolizing welcoming of Jesus Christ's coming to Jerusalem.

It is the best week for the family to be together. My granny at the age of 98 will gather all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren together and pray the rosary on her altar.

I can feel the spirit of the lenten week. I have seen people creating their leaves for the Palm Sunday. Here, based on what I have observed, the blessing of the palms is after the mass.

@acelawrites Oh I see. I attended the mass and saw people were holding their leaves ready before the end of the mass

It is before the Mass here, like welcoming Jesus Christ when He entered Jerusalem.
