Marsha's Log: Mennonite Relief Sale

Today and tomorrow is the annual Mennonite Relief Sale. I will leave after babysitting and drive back to my town and directly to the state fair grounds. Lots of people and organizations donate quilts for auction for the sale. I've never gone to the auctions on Saturday, but they bring in a lot of money. I go on Friday. Doors open at 4 pm. If you get there before 4 pm you will find the place where I go first thing surrounded by caution tape and people just waiting for them to take it down. They call their very large booth Quilters Corner. People also donate to it and it's a massive spot they have...it's a quilters dream!!! Last year I went with specific things in mind that I was looking for. I found them all, including the 100% cotton batting to make my microwave hotpads. This year I don't have anything specific in mind......well, actually I do. I will buy some packages of plain colored fabrics as I need more of those to finish a backing for a quilt. After I get done shopping there, hubby and my daughter will meet me to eat at the "Feeding of the Multitudes". There we will stand in a line that is usually over a block long to get in to eat our choice of many German foods. They are sold separately and you choose. Two things that I look forward to every year....and neither can I think of the names of. I will write about those tomorrow :) How is your Friday shaping up?
