~Usually It's Just Drama~

As most of you know I'm the admin of a few groups on FB. Two of those are babysitting groups. Most of the time when people message me complaining about someone it's just useless drama. Today though was different... A lady messaged me telling me about an ex nurse who was trying to provide care but she got her nursing licensed suspended for not continuing alcohol treatment. Then I looked the ex nurses name up and found even more.about her-I am not sharing her actual name or age here don't worry. "Lauren was charged Monday with eight counts of trafficking in opium, four counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and four counts of insurance fraud". Okay not someone I would want watching my children so she has to be removed from the group. Gosh sometimes this world really makes me shake my head. That was my little bit of craziness for today.

Wow you just never know. That is why it is good to have a background check done on somebody before you allow them to take care of your children.

@LovingMyBabies she must have thought that nobody would find out but with charges like that she will be doing jail time.

@Happy2BeMe Yeah if I knew I had charges like that I wouldn't even go near any child. I guess if she's still addicted she might not care.

@LovingMyBabies that could be it too. She doesn't care and just looking for more money to get her fix. The kids don't matter to her.

Wow! That makes me a little unsettled especially when I am looking for daycare for my granddaughter. However, they have to be registered with the state so I hope that there are no surprises in store. I hope this person gets shut down. She shouldn't be be caring for children.

@LovingMyBabies Oh, I realize that not all sitters are bad. I was just thinking that it is too bad that you aren't closer so you could watch the little one. The daycares that I have visited usually have about 4-5 toddlers. They also have school age children that come after school and during vacation.

@Elusivebutterfly Well not all sitters are bad. I'm a provider and I am not a bad person. But as long as a background check is done it's usually pretty okay. If their registered with the state they have a background check and safety inspections done. The only thing is they can have a bunch more kids in their care than a babysitter can which is something I personally wouldn't want for someone providing care for my child.

@ElusiveButterfly Yeah 4-5 toddlers is a lot! One person cannot possibly keep a close eye on that many little ones. Yikes! I wish I was closer, I would love to help!

Wow that is definitely quite something. This is definitely not someone I want to watch my kids for sure. It's a good thing that this lady reported the ex nurse.

@LovingMyBabies Not many others may have known. It's not exactly the kind of person you want in one of your babysitting groups.

As a parent I wouldn't want my child with them. As a person, my actions might be different. But since we are talking about babysitting, no the person is not suitable.

@Daljinder Yeah I wouldn't want mine with them either. It's a scary world we live in! What would your actions be? No she's definitely not.

@Daljinder Well when I asked if it was her and if the charges were true she removed herself from FB-after reading my message and ignoring me. That kind of spoke volumes to me.

@LovingMyBabies I would investigate especially disregarding what others say including the media. We can't know what is behind the scene unless we know the real truth.

Wow yeah I say she needs to be removed from the group. I hope she serves her time good and thinks long and hard about all she has done while in jail.

Wow, some people are so evil and whacked out and for her to try and be around kids to baby sit , is really sick. Luckily she got arrested.

@Leapea2417 Yeah I'm surprised she even tried to be around children after her license was suspended for her DUI.

This is exactly why you have to do a little research and a lot of digging on people. Checking into things (references, employment history verification, police records, background checks, etc) is a must these days.

Yes, pretty serious stuff- I would have to be so-o-o-o sure of the person before I hired anyone for babysitting.

@Marymargl1 Even knowing a person isn't enough sometimes. A background check is a good idea too.

@LovingMyBabies Yes, of course you are right and unfortunately most people just assume the person(s) are okay just if they're working in a daycare centre.

That is horrible. Doesn't anyone keep watch over these day cares. My niece owns a day care and they are always looking over her shoulder. I pity the children that were in her care.

@RubyHawk She isn't a daycare, just a babysitter. She wasn't licensed-because of her background.
