Pedalling away in London

Last week I took my folding bike into Town for a long overdue service, which needed a little more knowledge than I had. Two days later I was able to pick it up and have a post-service test pedal on the new-ish cycle Superhighway on the Victoria Embankment, which has been open about a year. From Westminster I pedalled east towards the Tower of London and what an excellent ride it was. Once I Tower Hill, I remembered to set up the helmet camera. You can get a flavour of the ride, with just a fleeting view of the Tower as I spin my head about. It finishes with me rejoining the Embankment section. I shall practise some more with the camera, as there is lots of room for improvement in the videography department!
Pedalling from Tower Hill back to Westminster edited video. Over did the sound and now it is almost silent.

Not been that far east on a bike. Now that I've had a fresh taste I have some plans to explore further

Cool video, didn't make me as dizzy as I thought it would. Good job not moving your head to fast. I look forward to more videos. I am a big fan of bike riding, my husband and I do it quite often when it's nice out.

@Ronrybs We don't do the off road biking, we are retired and our old bones can't take all the bouncing around but we ride plenty in our town and at the State Park in our area.

My head whizzes about a lot more when I am off cycle paths and using the roads! I, too, am a big fan of bike riding. I intend going back to the city and exploring more cycle paths

@fishtiger58 This year I planning to get touring, so I should be doing a lot of road work, although some is along the canal network... kinda off road!

I have an idea for one video, but I need some good weather for it. The ones I've done just lately are along country lanes - nothing we've not seen already. Even the bit where I a stick jam the front wheel is less than interesting!

Very nice video even it made my head spin a bit. It seems safer to use a bike in London than in some small villages.

Wow. That is unlike any city I have seen. The bit by the river was pretty. Is that a special bike lane?

Yes, after much planning and protesting they have finally started building these lanes. During rush hour they get quite busy.

@FayeHazel I know it isn't a complete answer, but properly integrated cycle lanes can do much to make cities more livable and people friendly

@Ronrybs I think the bike lanes are a great idea -- much safer

How cool is that? Why is it all sort of sideways? Is the camera a bit crooked or is it your head that's crooked? Seriously though, the horizon is at an angle and I'm just wondering why. I'm pleased you added the video. It's nearly as nice as driving a horse.

I wouldn't mind getting a helmet cam. Expensive, though.
