Good Evans! What's this?

When we lived in Esperance, Western Australia, friends put a sign on the front gate of our five acres that said 'Good Evans'. We quite liked it and I always thought it would be nice if everyone up the road had something similar.
Our next-door neighbours had the surname 'Sims' and I always thought they should have a sign on their gate declaring them to be 'Dim Sims'. I was never quite game to suggest this to them though.
Now, we have a sign on the gate which says 'Sir Vince and Lady Judy, Good Evans of Argyle'. Vince's brother and his wife put the sign up once when we were away. When people first visit us, they may bow when they get out of their vehicle and we wonder what on earth they're doing – until we remember the sign.
One of Vince's gifts was a cheeseboard which has been especially made to incorporate 'GoodEvans'. Don't you think it's nice?

@JudyEv Yes! Herc is the official mascot of Good Evans.

I love it! Whoever originally came up with it is so clever!

@JudyEv When they are cleverly done like that, yes. There are also situations where a personalized gift could go horribly wrong!

It's a great idea. Personalised gifts will always be popular I think.

@JudyEv A sheep is a valid animal on a French coat of arm ; it is represented passing, head on the left, usually in silver (it represents a glorious principle), or in gold (to symbolize something virtuous, righteous). Rams are perhaps more interesting in heraldry, but Herc has no horns if I remember ?

@andriaperry How about Moffitt? Jeff asked me what about his name but it's beyond me.

@teamfreak16 Oh, THAT sort of paddle. I think half my brain's gone walkabout today.
And I'm supposed to go out later and be sociable.

I like the cheeseboard. The signage is cool. I am imagining people bowing whenever they passed by your gate.

The chemist was kind enough to drop off some prescription medicines once. Ever after, whenever we went in his shop he greeted us as Sir Vin and Lady Judy and always served us personally. I can't believe that he really thought we were dinkum (not playing jokes).

At the moment I can't connect to the other computer which has most of the photo on it. I'll need to put some on a stick and transfer them to here or I'll take another photo - but I'll do that one day.

Its nice, in India we usually had god's name put up on the gate. But now they have their surnames or their names.

That's a lovely idea too. You don't see that here too often.
