Do You Know How To Do This?

I use a lot of notepads when doing posts or others things online. I usually just x out of them when I am done. I expect them to go to my 'documents' on my laptop. But, they don't. They invariably go to a file I use to keep my articles I have written on another site. This file is there in my 'documents'. So, I am wondering how I might go about doing something on my laptop to make sure my next notepads just go to my 'documents' and not this other file.
Thank you in advance.

Save a text file to "My Documents", then open notepad again. Last location you saved is remembered. So next time by default it is saved in my documents.

I don't use notepad - I use Word for everything.
