What do you think if someone tells you your discussion is violation of guidelines?

violation of guidelines

Be sure I will feel worried about it because I don't intend to do so on purpose. It is just a mistake or actually I haven't read the guidelines much. In fact sometimes even if I think somebody's discussion is violation of guidelines, I will not say so. Sometimes I will also leave comments as well as other discussions. And it is impossible for me to report it.

@Bluedoll For no reason he was very rude from his first comment, like suggesting I was plagiarizing picking phrases from the Internet, that was not the case. I think he was hates all the women, I noticed he is only nice when he comments on male discussions.

@Bluedoll Some people only join the writing sites to bully the others. Thanks.

If its vague and I know for sure it is not in the guidelines I'll let them know. If I don't know for sure, I'd let it be.

@youless Even if they are new and need help? I would reference them to the link to read but wouldn't be rude about it.

As a responsible member you are bound to report. Admin will then decide.

Unlike you I report comment /response/ discussion which I feel is a violation of guidelines without letting that person knowing it. It's not a problem as it's our responsibility to do that as admin alone can't find out such violations.

@sjvg1976 Usually those are not harmful discussions, so I just let it go.

@youless then how would you stop violation when you don't report it as admin can't scan every comment here

Only once someone told me that my post was violating the guidelines. I sent a PM to Alex, he checked and deleted the comments who the one who wrote that. If I see a violation I inform the user if it's a clear violation (post written in another language or a one line with only a silly question). I always report plagiarists and those who post commercial links.

It seems that lately I got two of these messages from a Mylotter. But my discussions are not deleted yet. So I think my discussions are not violating the guidelines.

@youless I had this kind of message in the past, I knew I was not violating the rules. When we are sure, the best is to ignore the message, if the same user insists, just inform Alex.

That's nice of you to not be rude to others. I think it's better to tell them than to report always without awaring.

WTH (Well that's Horrible) would probably be racing through my mind first, then really find out if I really have violated the guidelines. WTF (Well that's Funny) would come when the post has not been removed for some time or have been declared "clean" by other members especially GAA who will always be around pretty fast if there is any violation. Lastly, I just hoped that I have not stepped on someone else's tail to be trolled like this.

Actually I am not quite confident to myself whether I violate the guidelines but I try not to do so.

Unless it is the myLot Admin telling me that my discussion is a violation, I really wouldn't worry.

Unless the whole text is copied from elsewhere in the web, I will not usually report it. I hate it when others do not start their own thread but to copy and paste from elsewhere. it is a sign of greed and laziness.

In fact it doesn't make a sense to copy others' discussions. If they want to copy, they can copy any articles via the net

@youless That is definitely wrong. I will report such action. it is a rather clear cut violation.

If it looks like a violation, you have nothing to lose by reporting it - Admin has the final say, and a report against a post or comment simply brings it to Admin's attention. It is Admin's call whether or not a violation has occurred, and what happens to it after that.

@youless I'd be lying if I say I'll be happy about it, and I'd feel the same, just like you - whether I haven't read guidelines properly or whether it's an inadvertent mistake. I 'd edit my comments however & I will play by rules, still
