My Body Clock Forgot I'm On Vacation

Today is Monday, but I am on break so did not have to get up before the Sun to get to work. I remembered to turn off my alarm clock, but my body clock forgot I'm on vacation. I did sleep in, an hour, and woke up at 6:30. The good thing about that is I will get a lot more done today. I've already scheduled a service appointment for the wife's car tomorrow, responded to all my notifications here on myLot, had breakfast, and will shortly get back to work on formatting the paperback version of The Boy From Buzby Beach. For those of you following Cooper's story on my (non-monetized) blog riversailorliterary.com, I have added a few more installments since I last mentioned him.
Serialized draft of upcoming novel by DW Davis.

When you go to be Friday night thinking you can sleep in Saturday morning, and then you're up with the birds, it can be frustrating.

@Shavkat I've read that waking up before your alarm clock is a sign of a good night's sleep, so maybe that was a good thing.

Do you look at the clock and groan, knowing you didn't have to be up so early?

I have been up since 5:45 for no good reason and have also accomplished quite a lot.

Having more time to get things done is one of the benefits of waking up early. Still, I would not have been upset an another hour or so of sleep.

It's a holiday here too today, but I woke up at 5:30 and I was unable to go back to sleep. More time to do several little things around the house.

I don't mind so much in hindsight. I've gotten a lot done this morning as a result.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could turn off the body clock alarm the way you can the alarm clock?

I never used an alarm clock, even when I worked...I just wake up automatically.

I often wake up 15 to 30 minutes before my alarm, sneer at the clock, and try to go back to sleep.

The body clock takes a while to adjust doesn't it?

It will have adjusted to vacation about in time to go back to work. What is really hard is adjusting from summer schedule to school schedule at the end of August.

For the first month or so after I retired my body was still on work time schedule. No matter what I did I woke up the same time I always did for work. Finally my body is getting readjusted.

My father has been retired for years, and he's still on his work schedule for waking up in the morning. My mother, on the other hand, adjusted quickly.

@DWDavis I guess it all depends on how strong your body clock rings it's little wake up bell.

After years and years of a work schedule and disturbed sleep, I am regimented to waking up at approximately the same time no matter where I am at.

When I first got out of the service, I would do the same. I imagine when I retire from teaching it will take me a while to stop waking up in time for school. Then again, I do get to practice every summer for a few weeks.

I try to make myself useful so my missus won't be tempted to trade me in on a newer model.
