Do you remember the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz? Well, I am stating to fell like she did when Dorothy threw that pail of water on her. I feel like I am starting to melt. My husband tried turning on the air conditioner this morning and all we could get was hot air. Now the hot air from the weather and the hot air from the air conditioner are both mingling together in our house. I have been driven out onto my screen patio where it is...you guessed it, also hot. We are now waiting for the air conditioner man to come out and take a look at our system. Why oh why did we get rid of the two window units we had? So, here I sit with two fans turned towards us helping to relieve some of the heat. Hopefully he will be able to get here today and it's not something we will have to pay an arm and a leg for. Actually other than the sir conditioner not working it is a pretty good day. How is your day going? Have you got any plans?

I hope that a/c is an easy fix. My niece just had to get her central air fixed. She said it hasn't run right for the last couple of years but it was cool enough to get her through. This year she wants to make sure she gets COLD air for a change. I hope that for both of you!

@HazySue Yes, our winter was really mild so I think we will be in trouble. We have already found ticks on one of the kids.

@mom210 oh no. Something I definitely don't loo forward to is searching the bodies for ticks.

I'm glad you are still in the lower temps. I think it is going to be really hot this summer.

Being hot is not fun. My day could be better. I have a major Fibro flare and a headache. Trying to get my mind off of this by posting here.

Fibro myalgia is a pain in more ways than one, adding a headache to it doesn't help matters. I hope posting does help to turn your mind away from the pain.

It'll get that bad in here later this evening, right now it's still ok. I'm just glad it isn't humid, todays humidity is 6%

To me, if it's 90 out and over 30% it's hard to breathe @HazySue but somehow I get the feeling your humidity is probably much worse.

It's good that your humidity is so low. Ours always seem to feel so high.

It is rather cool here today because of all the rain we had. We had to turn on the heater.

If the rain would cool it some here I would love for it to come in our direction.

@HazySue Are you going to get a second opinion, or are you going to trust the guy on his recommendation? One time, my water heater went out (in the middle of winter, of course), and the first guy I called told me the water heater was not repairable and that it had to be replaced. The second guy came out, took a look at it, and told me all that was wrong with it was that the heating element went bad. It took him like 15 minutes to fix it, and the thing was working as good as new!

@moffittjc I am getting a second opinion. When it comes to spending that much money I always get a second opinion. The other air guy is coming today. Wish me luck.

I used to live in a place that had no a/c, must swamp coolers, and it was miserable here in Arizona during the humid times. Even when it wasn't humid, they just didn't do much good. My landlady was a retired carnival worker and she told me to keep a spray bottle of water next to my bed. When I woke up hot, spray the sheet. I had a fan going and it was instant coolness. So try wetting your skin or clothing while sitting in front of the fan, it works pretty good!

We're lucky in that we don't need air conditioning in our homes here in England. I hope you get yours fixed soon.
