Yesterday evening, my son bought a box of the steamed buns from a popular food store. We did not eat the buns because we were about to have our supper. My son said we can eat the buns for breakfast.
So this morning while I was heating water for the thermos, I took the steamed buns out from the refrigerator and placed them on an elongated aluminum saucer. We do not have a steamer so I made one. My innovativeness did it. With a saucepan with water, I placed the empty tin can of a processed ham in the middle, then the saucer with the buns, and then covered it with the lid.
After 10 minutes, the steamed buns were already warm. I served them on the table. Bad thing though, the condiments given were hot sauce, not the ‘asado’ sauce. I put a little of the sauce, and it tasted good. With coffee, my breakfast was filling and done.
The steamed bun made me satiated. How about you, did you have a heavy breakfast?

the steamed buns did not have the asado, but the bola-bola, or meat balls my friend. i remember when i was still in my elementary grades- siopao was sold in the sidewalk and the ones inside the buns were monggo or mung beans, meat, and chocolate. a small piece was worth 24 centavos, while the bigger ones were worth 50 centavos.

@lady1993 the monggo was when i was in my elementary grade. it tasted so good. those are the 3 fillings of siopao before. pork meat, mongo, and chocolate.

wow, I have never seen any "steamed Buns" before this is an item that looks interesting. Although since I am a picky person I am sure I would still refuse it.
But I do like your crafty ability to reheat the buns.. very well done..
today so far I have just eaten left overs.. I will have to wait a few hours to see what the rest of the day brings me for meals.

hahaha! yes, my friend. we have a toaster, but no steamer pot. i can place the buns on top of the rice that is being cooked in the rice cooker but i don't prepare rice for breakfast; hence, my improvised steamer.
steamed buns originated from China. the name siopao is the term for the steamed buns.

@minx267 these are usually sold in Chinatown, my friend, so if by chance to get in to one store in Chinatown, if there is one near your place, i hope you will see a piece of this steamed bun. it tastes good.

@ridingbet even i don't like it too brown. When my dad makes his it's nearly burnt and he loves it that way. Wondering how he can appreciate this

we can have toast when the margarine is opened, or jam as well. i prefer a not too- toasted bread; just slight brown and slightly soft is better for me.

@Nawsheen really? tasting a nearly-burnt toast is not good now, because the nutrients of the bread are also burnt. my sister too prefers a slightly burnt bread toast.

yes indeed. but have you heard that 'hate campaign' that the meat filling of these siopao were cat meat/ i think that was gross publicity.

hahaha! no, my dear, they don't get brown. i believe they are made of dough and the filling is placed inside before the buns are steamed.

@fishtiger58 they are really good, my friend. it is like a sandwich, but the filling is inside the bun. and as long as the filling is not so small, that you should take several bites to reveal and taste the filling, it is surely good to fill an empty stomach.

@ridingbet I am not sure whether the steamed buns are originally from my country. As sometimes Koreans claim that they invented so many things

@youless hahaha! really? i don't believe these Koreans. i think steamed buns are created by the Chinese, also the noodles.
ahh, maybe that Nissin's Ramen? that is from Korea, right?

thanks. that is a trait about us Pinoys- we always do some innovations. the hot sauce was a mistake, but my siopao tasted even better with the hot sauce.

that is actually what our meals should be. as what my late mother said before,"eat like a queen for breakfast, a middleman for lunch, and like a pauper for dinner"; precisely because we don't spend energy while asleep in bed.

i think it is flour to make a dough. it is another kind of carbohydrates food-energy-giving.
