What a lot of buttons

At the Fairbridge Music Festival in Western Australia, there was about eight undercover venues with different music groups playing mostly 45-minutes sets. The sound guys then had 15 minutes to set up for the next band. Each year small changes are made. Once, schedules used to get well behind because encores were allowed but now there are no encores unless there was nothing following on. Fairbridge has always put great importance on 'family' with an emphasis on entertaining the children and young people. These was interactive drama workshops, body percussion, board games, art and craft tents, mandala weaving, totem making, circus classes, camera workshops and a host of music and singing 'classes', not to mention one venue devoted to very loud, hard dance music. A little free library was also set up. For adults, there was tai chi and yoga sessions as well as 'conversations' and/or workshops with various artists. And I'm telling you all this because I don't know anything about the photo I've put up, other than that it is one of the sound systems at the festival. I thought @JolietJake and other myLotters who put up the music posts might be interested.

Sounds great and I would go at least once, if I lived closer to your area. Many things are expensive in this area, so high prices are something I am use to now.

We don't go to any other concerts so in a way it's our one splurge for the year.

It looks like so much, but I'm not very technical. I'm sure that JJ is right at home looking at equipment like this.

It means nothing to me other than looking big and complicated. I thought some of the music guys might like to see it.

@teamfreak16 I rarely see bikes - only at public BMX parks. There must be some around. One will probably run into me now!

They definitely have to know what they are doing. It looks pretty confusing to me. Sounds like a good time though.

Vince had enough trouble with the tiny little system we had for the last concert.

I wouldn't even begin to understand how to use such a piece of equipment! It's huge! Sounds like a fun festival. Does it charge admission?

Yes, it does - and it's not particularly cheap. But you do get a huge range of artists to listen to and non-stop music for the duration.

I think I will be confused on having so many buttons. I need to tag them one-by-one.

Like you say...ssoooo many button's... i'm glad he knows what he's doing... cos the sound and mixing desk is important to the overall sound of the band .... but it sounds like the music festival has a lot of different things on offer...

There was almost too many choices. We found a couple of the bigger groups were much too loud for our taste.

@JudyEv No I think each panel is per speaker and are equalisers that control different tones for different speakers. Base treble etc! They probably have sound effects too to add to whatever is playing to enhance the sounds.

@garymarsh6 I haven't noticed it other years but the bigger tents seemed to have the sound guy in the middle and he had a two-way to a guy up the back of the stage who did all the moving of mikes, etc. It must take them a week to set up all the stuff they had.

My friend Michael likes twirling knobs and sliding faders. I probably could learn to as well. But it's not on my list right now. Getting a band "dialed in" can be important!

I like the indoor shows where we don't have to worry about sound. Sometimes they might have their own small speaker to amp up a bass or whatever.

That sound board is HUGE! I did own a smaller one for the band I promoted but I sold it when the lead singer passed away.
