When I saw this picture on Pixabay it brought back a rush of memories. I find that pictures and music both affect me this way. This particular picture brought back little snippets of memories of my mother-in-law. She past away two years ago and she is greatly missed. It brought back memories of the best chicken and dumplings I ever had, me driving in circles with her in the front seat while I was learning how to drive a stick shift. It made me hungry for the freshly baked bread she made every Sunday. I long for the days when she would dance around the kitchen with a wooden spoon as a microphone while singing her favorite country song of the moment. Why, you might ask, does a picture of a lighthouse bring back these memories? She loved lighthouses and anything to do with the sea.

She sounds like quite the lady. I miss my mom and grams that way. I don't think I have ever seen a lighthouse up close, only in the distance or in pictures.

I remember one time visiting a ligh5thouse with her. I could barely make it to the top, she was up there and enjoying the scenery while I was still climbing.

I do too love lighthouses and the sea. It is so good you remember her in such a good way Susan. It is nice too when someone not only gets along with their Mother in Law but loves her too. RIP

@HazySue I realized afterwards when my mother in law passed that I actually got along with her better than her own blood.

I have heard so many people run down their mother-in-laws, some I am sure have good reason to do so. I was lucky.

She was a wonderful person. I used to make little cross stitch pieces of lighthouses for her.

I also love lighthouses. My late husband and I used to visit as many as we could. We took a whole weekend to visit as many New Jersey lighthouses as we could find. It was all so much fun. Love that photo And I love your memories of her. She is smiling down on you and lighting your way as you go.

I love lighthouses too. I know she's around guiding me. As long as you hold someone in your heart they will always be there.
