Websleuths is a place for everyone to try their hands at detecting work

I think most Mylotters have not heard of Websleuths. This site is new to me too. It is a site for common folks to discuss current cases that police have not solved, or to discuss old cases that are still opened. Families can use the site to ask the internet community to look for their missing relatives. There are sub-sections for those who went missing way back before the 1960s. Though the chances of finding them alive is very slim, this shows that they are not forgotten. I think those who are keen to find out the current active cases in their area can check out the site, and perhaps they can provide a clue to solve the case. As far as I can see, this site is for US only. It seems to be a very active site with 900 active users at the point when I check it out.

You can learn about the way they solve true crime all the way until the court proceeding. I think you will find it interesting. There is no point for us to join in since we are not US residents, and we are not likely to trace the owner of any vehicle or take pictures of the areas where crime happens.

You can read. It is a forum, but all the cases are US murders and missing persons, not for us to join and contribute.

What's the use when the site is not active here in India.

This is more interesting than watching true crime or whatever TV program. You can view the site, but the cases are for US people. No point for us to join the site, but we can see real detecting at work by the combined power of the police and the public. They trace some of the cases right up to the court. It sure is very educating in nature.

It is very interesting. Just feel sad that those cases are real murders and real victims, and not fictions.
