As you know, Saturday was the city wide yard sales in the little town where my middle daughter lives. It was a lot of fun going to I don't even know how many sales. There were over 80 of them! The very first one, I spotted this bag of fabric and thread. I asked how much. I hope you are sitting down because I know you could have knocked me over with a feather when the lady told me 25 cents!!! Yes, I got everything you see in the picture for just a quarter!! Other good deals were a toaster for $2. Some maroon fabric for 75 cents, a large piece of felt for 75 cents, a bag of 8 slightly used spools of thread for $1, a seat cushion for $1, strawberry plants for $1 each, a new pillow for 50 cents, a set of 4 new bed risers for $1, a pair of cute sandals for $1, a bag of batting for $1, a black and white bandana for 10 cents, and 2 boxes of tea light candles for 25 cents each. I spent money buying 2 baby hats for my oldest daughters baby boy on the way for just 25 cents for both of them....and then 2 cute outfits with monkeys for $3 total. I picked up what they used to call a Johnny Jump Up (I think) for $3 for Amelia to enjoy. I was totally exhausted from all the walking and my back ached, but oh how much fun to actually get to spend time with family and find bargains on things needed. After I got home I had to drive to another town and pick up yard sale items from a church member.....leftovers from their sale that she donated to put in our church rummage sale next month. Yesterday was church and movie afternoon and church...then a very long nap, so that's why I missed 2 days being here!

It sounds like you found plenty of bargains. I love the idea of yard sales it's not something that ever happens here. The closest thing we have is car boot sales where you pay a price for a space and sell whatever you could fit in your car that you want to sell. I see posts from members of a surf forum I'm on from people who have picked up a great board for $30 at yard sales. Usually from parents offloading their kids stuff after the kids have left home. I'm jealous I usually come back from boot sales with a couple of DVDs :)

I would go to one of those sales with my car packed if we had them around here.

@marsha32 They are great for buying small items on the cheap. That and the fact it's always fun to have a hunt through people's stuff looking for bargains!

Yard sales are so much fun and, as you found, can be perfect for finding things you need/want for almost nothing! Good for you!

@marsha32 ......I quit carrying money and just use a debit card so I don't either. Haven't for several years. My daughter goes to one here in the neighborhood.

Yes! The thread alone sells for over $2 a spool and all 3 are new.
