Clever Signs on Shirts

While we were at the Fairbridge Music Festival in Western Australia, I saw some interesting fashions. I am always keen to read the slogans that appear on shirts. One politically incorrect T-shirt bore the slogan 'Lee Harvey Oswald, Where are you when we need you?' And I was reminded of a slogan on the back of a bikie's shirt which read 'If you can read this, the missus must have fallen off'. There are dozens of sayings which appear on shirts. Do you have a favourite? The photo shows a 'busk stop' sign at the Festival. The Festival by this time was over so the tables and chairs are mostly unoccupied and some of the food vans at the back have closed up and moved out.

I love the first T-Shirt you mentioned, I love it very much. There was one I remember I liked "Every Brunette Needs A Blonde Best Friend".

@Nawsheen Some are really awful - and I've seen them on young women which, being 'old school', I really don't like.

Busk stop. Nice. I'd been busking for years before I knew what the term meant. My favorite (I gave it away, dang it!): front: Jesus is coming... back: and he REALLY pissed!

I saw street signs in Chicago that said "No Standing" meaning no parking but I thought what if I dare to stand there.

We have both here. You can 'stand' in a 'no parking' for a few minutes with the motor running (I think that's the story) but you can't do that in the 'no standing' area.

Yes, it's a play on words. Instead of Bus Stop they've written Busk Stop - and it's also the area where children were allowed to 'busk' (play and/or sing for donations).

I *always* have to read slogans on t-shirts. It's impossible for me not to do it. I haven't got a favourite one but I must say that I've seen some which are obscene. I can only hope that the wearers don't know what they mean. In Germany, everything must be in English to be cutting edge. They're probably made in Asia where the workers don't understand what they print on the t-shirts. So, only poor me and other people who know English well, know that someone walks around with an obscene slogan in their chests - knowingly or unknowingly.

@JudyEv A former pupil of mine who lives in Japan now has told me that it's a craze among Japanese youngsters to wear t-shirts with English words on them. They think it's cool, but they don't have the foggiest idea what the words mean. He said if they knew, many would be horribly embarrassed.

I love the bikers shirt. Excellent. When my friend was 40 she is rather a large lady and was going to the USA on a bus tour. I had a T shirt printed with the following which I made her promise to wear on her birthday. " I overcame anorexia". She wore it on her birthday as promised and the rest of the coach were in hysterics apparently. It did not stop her from calling me an illegitimate person (I could not write the word she said in case I got banned)

A busker is someone who entertains the crowd and hopes they'll throw money in their hat or music case or whatever. At Fairbridge it's mostly kids, some quite small, who sing or play an instrument and hope people will give them coins.
