Oh, my aching back!

Eugene, Oregon
May 19, 2017 7:46pm CST
I guess I bent over from the hip too long doing some yard work the other day. A spot in the lower right side of my back has been hurting of and on since then. I am taking an Aleve daily, using ice and doing some good yoga stretches. After using those remedies this morning, we took a bit of a stroll. It still felt good, better, in fact. So I decided to mow the lawn. Actually, that went well too. I felt well enough after cleaning up and having lunch that I decided I could play table tennis. Toward the end of the competitive hour that I played doubles, I made a wrong sudden move and had to limp home to more ice, more stretches and will take another Aleve soon. We have theater tickets tonight to see a local production of Cabaret, so I am hoping that sitting still for a couple of hours does not make it worse. I am hoping to get an acupuncture treatment on Monday if am not a lot better. I hope you have a great Friday evening or Saturday morning where you are!

You were a bit too active the first time you felt better. In future you will know to take it a bit easy for awhile. Hope you are able to enjoy the show.

Very true. About that show, our tickets are for tonight, not yesterday.

Sometimes our body gives us hints but do we listen? no. I am guilty of ignoring the warnings and pushing through. Hope you are able to see the show

It seems confined to one spot this morning, so will stretch again and take it easy today.

Bring the Aleve with you, if you feel pain at least you can have one. Good luck.

I am careful with that stuff, since it says only one per day. Thanks, Anna!

@JamesHxstatic - I am totally sympathetic. I did something to my lower back this week, too. I went to the chiropractor and that helped, but I have been icing it and taking Aleve for the past couple of days.

@DeborahDiane Good idea. We went to farmers' market this morning, but I am using some ice and relaxing now. Tonight is the night we go to see "Cabaret." We had the night wrong.

@JamesHxstatic - I feel a lot better. I am going to skip my horseback ride tomorrow and let my body heal a little more before I take on any rugged exercise.

They say Aleve works really well. I usually take aspirin or sleep Tylenol for pain. Hey! Whatever works for you. Feel better.

I'm sorry to hear that. Back pain is ferocious...nothing quite like it. I've been going to a chiropractor lately, but it seems he's making things worse instead of better. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thank you! The last time this happened, one acupuncture treatment about 24 needles from a very good practitioner, fixed it quickly. I may call her Monday if it does not improve.

You did way too much and that's why you ended up feeling that way.

Sorry to hear about your back. Mine has been playing up a bit lately. I've been doing more cleaning than normal trying to have the house really clean before we go away. I hope yours comes good soon.

@JamesHxstatic Last time we were overseas I had a really bad shoulder for some of the time and that did spoil it a bit. In the end I had to take pain-killers which I don't like doing.

I can relate to your back problem. I injured my back not too long ago and then my foot caught on my plastic that is put on my scooter for the winter and I felt out of the scooter on the ground. All I wanted to do was throw out the garbage. I hurt my left side and reinjured my lower back and have been resting from it.

I have had troubles with my lower back right above my hip, which I wonder whether or not if it's sciatica.

A sure sign of that is if the pain runs down your leg as well as hurts your back. Mine is localized in one spot of my lower back.

That was taking a bit of a risk playing table tennis wasn't it? Enjoy Cabaret, I hope you manage sitting through it without any back pain.

Thank you Val. I sort of knew I should not play, but there were only three for doubles, so I did.
