Yesterday afternoon an antique dealer made an offer for my mother's antique hutch. Yes it is indeed an antique. While she was there appraising the hutch another dealer stopped in. I had called him because I wanted a second opinion on the hutch. Anyway, I ended up getting $700 for it. I am glad I called in a second person to look at it. The woman made a lowball offer just before the man walked in my front door. He took one look at it and offered $700 for it. At that point I wouldn't have sold it to her for twice that6amount. I annoyed me that she was trying to take me for a fool. The hutch is gone now and looking for a new home. I was so thrilled that I forgot to ask how old he thought it was. In any case I have my money and he has his hutch. Oh, by the way, I did find out that it is really a china cabinet and not a hutch. Silly me.

Isn't that the truth. I would have never known it was worth more3 than the t6wo hundred dollars if I hadn't had the two come at the same time.

I was leery of only having one opinion. I am glad I had two.

I have a few antiques I'd like to have valued but I'm scared of someone dudding me. It's hard to find someone you can trust sometimes.

@HazySue I think that is a very good idea. I'd like to do something like that.

It is hard to find someone you can trust. I had two people come at the same time. I thought I would have a better chance at getting closed to what it was worth if there were two of them from different poace3s.

That was a good sale. You always need to get multiple estimates to get an idea of value.
