North Carolina Tornado Activity.

It was around 4 pm when we started hearing that there was tornado activity in the triad here of NC. Western Forsyth, which is where I am, was under an advisement, but we never got anything.
Then it jumped around to Yadkin, Davie, Iredell, Rowan. Essentially, those are all counties below me. There was some activity to the North West (I think it's northwest but not quite sure either) of us in Pilot Mountain.
There were damages, one school gymnasium is ultimately collapsed, which must be a bummer to the school kids. I believe it was a grade school.
We are still under advisement for severe weather until midnight. i was hoping for some more thunder than what we got. I heard (maybe) three rumbles and that was it.

@thislittlepennyearns It's very quiet out there now.. and not the quiet before a tornado quiet, either...
I am hoping it will stay quiet, atleast as far as tornadoes go. I can handle a thunderstorm or two.

We have them, but not as often as other States. Honestly we didn't even get the tornado, it went around us. We had a bit of wind, but nothing major, and a few rumbles of thunder. It rained a bit, and that was all.
We expect rain and potential thunderstorms today.

@infatuatedbby Yup. We've got structural damage to our house as is, and don't need anymore. I'm not the homeowner so I can't really do anything about it, but even the homeowner isn't too fussed with it.
It's gutters that need cleaning, they are collapsing on the back part of the house.

It will just be storms today, though I'm not sure if any are potentially severe. I do love a good rainy day. Sunny weather is good too, but I don't like it too warm.

We get our fair share, but not nearly as much as other areas.
We have a few day stretch of cold and rainy weather. I think Friday it's supposed to clear up, but perhaps more rain over the weekend.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We are supposed to have some rain and thunderstorms Friday but then a decent weekend. Not as nice as the beachgoers and boardwalk owners would like for Memorial Day Weekend, but it won't be horrible.

There was a tornado on the other side of my town yesterday. We were having tornado watches/warnings all day yesterday and earlier this week. It also rained all day yesterday and some today.

Yes it's been raining today. Friday we are supposed to be clear but then the weekend is more rainy weather and potential for severe storms.
I am glad the tornadoes were on the other side of town for you!

@ScribbledAdNauseum Our Friday is also sunny and warm but the chance of rain and storms this weekend. By the way, I also live in NC too. I pass through Yadkin going to my college in the mountains. I attend Lees-McRae which is in Banner Elk, NC.

Hot. Too bluddy hot. We're forecast thunderstorms over the weekend - I think - but they will probably be a damp squib. I don't think I'd cope in a place where tornados were considered the norm!

We don't have tornadoes as bad some areas of the States, and that I am glad of. We also don't have to worry about hurricanes, as we are way too far inland.
If it does end up raining there, atleast it should cool it down over the next few days...
