Why I Stop Going to Church

This post assumes that "God" exist. In creating Man did God put a limitation on what the human intellect can probe? "Free will" implies that God wants us to use whatever God-given tools he has bestow upon us. Like that piece of cerebral gray mass floating inside our skull we call our brain. Religious institutions on the other hand would have us surrender this gift and follow blindly on faith alone that their interpretation of God's message is the correct one. Isn't this also a form of arrogance on the part of church leaders? Will I ever "find" God? I don't know but there is a hunger within each of us to make that connection. However, I find it hard to put my trust (faith) of finding God in the hands of people still squabbling over the correct interpretation of every passage in the Bible. Should you? Here is a discussion I posted of a bishop (now Cardinal) disparaging the intelligence of church goers.

This is one of the reasons why I do not go to Church anymore. Men are only men and they fail.

@josie_ I fully agree, we have nothing to read that has been written by God. The only thing told written my God was destroyed by Moses, no luck.

@LadyDuck _The 10 commandments can be found in Exodus 20. But did Moses receive it from "God" or E.T. (as UFO believers alleged)?

When I saw pregnant nuns and Pasters getting drunk on Sunday night I quit going to church. All you have to do is believe in God and I do.

@jstory07 _Inside the majestic facade of the church rot has been eating away at the very pillars of it's foundation. Only in recent times has the church hierarchy finally acknowledge publicly the corruption plaguing it.

It is your right; we have freedom of religion. One can be a good person without going to the church; but for me I still go there; not for the priest but I find some peace within me after going to the church and pray silently, even without a Mass.

I don't go to church either, not sure why. Sometimes it can be disturbing to me, but then I still believe in GOD and prays for thanks sometimes.
