Should Politicians and Judges Retire at Age 65?

During the senate investigation, 80-year-old senator John McCain asked ex-FBI chief James Comey a question that did not make sense. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who was 83-years-old, when she made nasty comments against President Donald Trump; she forgot she's a supreme court justice! I believe both are suffering from mental lapses. Senator McCain and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg may even be losing their cognitive powers due to old age. They should retire! In fact, 71-year-old President Donald Trump should also retire and hand over the presidency to young Congressman Paul Ryan not old VP Pence. President Trump's crazy and childish behaviour, I believe, is due to his age and many years of working hard developing his Trump business empire. I am going to retire at age 65. I don't want to go to work wearing nothing below my waist due to mental lapses. How about you? Complementing photo - courtesy of Pixabay

You are partly right @antonbunot We watched McCain and was wondering what he was repeatedly referring to. However, some men and women are of sound mind even at 80 +

@Gabugs 2 decades more to go . . and I will be 80. I hope (and wish) to live up to that age to find out if I will still have a sound mind . . and sound body!

@Gabugs You are right, my friend. That is why I don't smoke and drink (used to - - 26 years ago). I am 90% vegetarian . . though still eat beef, chicken, and fish in moderation . . but no pork for me. I exercise a lot like doing 70 non-stop push ups and more form of physical exercise regularly. Regular physical and medical check up every 6 months. So far, my doctor keeps assuring me I am in good health . . . except gradual loss of hearing on my left ear . . which causes my wife to giggle when I give her wrong responses to her verbal questions.

What is more important is to have term limits for all elected officials.

As common mortals are judged no more good for work after 65, I wonder why the politicians should be. It shows very well right now that 70 years old politicians are unable to lead a country.

@LadyDuck And he cannot keep his mouth shut . Senator Graham commented yesterday in an interview - - " I like the president for working hard . . but he may go down because he just could not keep his mouth shut!"

It depends on the person, but I feel the same about Trump and Biden.

Some of us certainly should retire when we are 65 or so. But so many people stay sharp well into their old age. It is a hard call to make.

@paigea But supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburgh is already 84 years old . . . she should retire . . . also Senator McCain who is 81 years old - - he should retire.

@paigea Justice Ruth should be relaxing on the beach . . not sitting on her justice swivel chair criticizing Trump. She forgot that being a supreme court justice, she's not supposed to criticize any politician much more a duly elected president.

I did retire at 65. I have no problem with people working longer, but they should not be allowed to hold such important positions as Supreme Judge in their eighties.

@Asylum I agree, my friend. You see, she is a long time supreme court justice . . . She knows (or knew) that they are not allowed to say things against a president and yet she did it.

I do think some folks are capable of succeeding at anything even though they are old. It depends on the person. It's a shame to just dismiss years of experience because of preconceived notions about age. Perhaps regular testing is called for. Trump could be any age and still a wrecking ball.

LOL . . . Trump is wrecking ball! But at least he got balls to challenge the seasoned politicians and won the presidency with his sarcastic, childish, hard-hitting style of campaigning.

There's early onset dementia. I believe Orange Hair has it and he has had it for years. Yes, I think people in power should have to abide by common laws like us plebes.
