Allergy City & "The Twenty Sneeze Blues"

Eugene, Oregon
June 10, 2017 10:56am CST
On Wednesday, according to local news, my city of Eugene had the highest pollen count, not only in the state or the country, but the world! I did not inquire as to how they knew since I had trouble seeing anything most of this week. I take the non-sleepy allergy pills and use eye drops too, but there was litttle help this week. We have cool weather and rain for a few days now, so maybe that will help. I did get to the clubhouse and played ping pong at least, but my walking program is temporarily halted. I did not go to my guitar lesson Wednesday, but my interesting (old hippie) teacher suggested that I write the Allergy Blues. My immediate thought was "I can't write a blues song," but with some thought and lots of fooling around on the guitar, I came up with "the Twenty Sneeze Blues," two verses and a refrain with four chords.

Thank God the pollen season is over here, we get it around April and May when things come alive here. I hope you feel better soon.

Come July 4th, our pollen seems to die down mostly. I am some better today, thanks.

I stay in when pollen is high. Rain might help wash it all away. Hope so. Your tune sounds fun.

I can sympathize with your allergies and sneezing. We're going through the same thing in our house but our pollen doesn't seem quite as bad as yours. But we're sneezing like crazy

Well... it would sound better if I could change chords more smoothly, but I am working on that.

You finally found the feeling and made it.I haven't listened to Blues, whose heavy-hearted sentiment must be suitable for the current situation there.

It is not all heavy metal really. I like Mississippi John Hurt style Delta blues a lot.

As we drove north there were times it looked like it was a blizzard due to tree seedy fluffy things, I can only imagine pollen is a huge problem all over this year!

@JamesHxstatic It's often my eyes, the fine stuff gets under my contacts and I end up with problems

It did look like snow with the cottonwood pollen flying around here. I think my problem is mostly grass pollen.

That's neat. You wrote a piece of music. You should be proud. Sorry about your allergies. I think that's partly what my sinus infection is
