No cell phone miracle

Mylotters, here's an update on my cell phone. This morning, after I taken my phone out of my small bag of rice for soaking inside it for 12 hours, it powered on to the log-in screen. But I wasn't able to push any buttons and then it went back to black screen. On the way back from my doctor's appointment, it came back on with the logo screen before I can sign in. But I wasn't able to hit the buttons either. So now I knew it was toast. I did contact Tracfone online and asked them about the one phone they had for free--same brand, but different OS system and model. It's a Reconditioned Alcatel onetouch® Pixi ECLIPSE. If I buy a purchase plan, I do get it for free. So I opted for the 15.00 plan and paid also for the free FedEx 3 day S&H fee 4.95. It cost me 21.67, a few dollars less than the one I purchased last fall. I did hear from my brother via email. He told me to give it another day to dry out. I doubt it would work, since it'll be 24 hours since it had gotten water-logged 2.5 hours from here. He also said, if not, time to buy a new one. So I've taken care of htat, just in case. I should get it on MOnday at the latest. I would have to plug everything in again next week (and send a letter to my former best friend's mother for her phone number again, like she was able to relay the message to her last fall.)

Do you have those small bags of "silica gel" that they place to keep items dry? If you have several, they work ten time better than rice to save a cellphone.

@LadyDuck I did that on Wednesday night. My friend Sara at yoga told me to do it on low heat. I did it for a half-hour and didn't see any change. I think it made it worse. I also dried it with my t-shirt during class and no luck either.

@LadyDuck Yep. It had bit the dust on Wednesday night. It's okay. I get a new one today via Fed Ex.

Thanks Courtney. 24 hours ago, we had a lot of rain that wasn't what the weatherman forecasted. It rained for a hour and got my phone water-logged with damage inside the phone.

@Courtlynn Thanks goodness for that. The rain got inside and outside of the phone. But the rain inside the phone make it toast.

Last night's torrential rain. My purse had gotten soaked through along with my shut off phone. Me too. If I opted to buy a bigger service plan like $25, I would've gotten free overnight delivery.

Not really. It did power on. But the keyboard didn't work to press buttons. Yeah hopefully soon. I doubt waiting another day would make a difference.

I'm so sorry. I gather your phone got soaking wet somehow. At least you will have a nice new phone, yet again. If it's not one thing, it's another. Never fails.

yeah it did from the rain on Friday night. It got inside and outside the phone, when it was in my purse, which also got soaked too. Thanks for the hugs. Yep. Not my year in electronics.

Do Tracfone's not have sim cards? I really can't remember it has been many years since I have had one. I am sorry you have to go through the pain of going through numbers again. what is the fifteen dollar plan? what is included in it?

Yes they do. It comes in the package when you activate it. Me too. Here's the Smartphone service plan from the website: $15.00 $15.00/Month 30 SERVICE DAYS $14.25 With Auto-Refill 200MIN 500TEXTS 200MB AIRTIME FOR YOUR PHONE: 200 MINUTES 500 TEXTS 200 MB DATA I just have to pay every month instead of every 3 months, like I did in my former air service plan.
