ARE HERBAL MEDICATIONS SAFER?

Indeed yes, herbal medications are safer to use on a long-term basis than costly conventional medications as these are naturally plant based and have no dangerous side effects. Some medical doctors believe that herbal treatments also help to strengthen the immune system; they detoxify and normalize bodily functions, equipping an individual it to deal better with diseases.
Globally, more and more medical practitioners are realizing the importance of herbal medications in the treatment of diseases like Parkinson, Alzheimer and even cancer besides several others. Therefore, the question remains: Can these expensive prescription drugs be not replaced by some good natural herbal medications?
Today even in the U.S. some medical doctors have increasingly become aware of the therapeutic values of these natural herbal treatments. It is now a well-established fact that several pharmaceutical companies use some herbal compound or the other in the manufacture of modern medicine.
However, it is vital to keep in mind that each individual’s metabolic system of functioning differs; a probability of causing a strong interactive reaction could occur if you are simultaneously using any synthetic drug. Hence it is advisable to always consult with your primary physician before starting on this line of treatment.

Thanks for your advice @NJChicaa I wonder if you are speaking from your own personal experience.
It's true that if you administer any herbal medicine on your own, it could possibly not work or even be dangerous in some cases.
Please read the last line in my post again. One should exercise caution and only take the same with your primary doctor's advice.
However, I've seen several people buying these meds[ with appropriate labels ]at Sprouts & Whole Foods.Of course, in advanced cases, it may not work. effectively or quickly.

@Gabugs there were a lot of herbs here and some people who do not really know what do to with it just take herbs, thinking it might save them the high price of medication. But then, it would just cost their lives in the end since they have not gone to a proper doctor, or herbalist if they must.

I am all for "natural" whenever possible. But even natural herbal medicine is still medicinal . . . there could still be allergic reactions, ingesting too much to make it toxic in the body, or have ill effects if taken in combination with other herbs. Still, I'd like to think that these plant based medicines have way more benefits than those chemical manufactured medications (which can have terrible/damaging side effects). In our house, we go for natural remedies as much as possible!

@Gabugs It seems like chemical medications only help with symptoms or even mask them - they don't all get to the root of the problem. Just as instantly as it works, it can instantly do its damage as well. I'd certainly rather go with natural remedies than take those extra risks - not worth it!

Herbal remedies are very popular with us. We have books about such things that have been in the family for several generations. There is a lot to know, but factory made medicines don't seem appealing to us @Gabugs

@Gabugs Absolutely! It is amazing how many illnesses were treated in the beginning of the 1900s with sunshine, fresh air, clean water and vegetables.

My problem is when you have to see like 5 different types of Doctors because of all the different issues I have going on, especially right now. Some of them are very Happy and acceptable when you mention taking Herbal medications or natural stuff out there, while some are not. I guess some feel that if you have success with something you will quit wanting to come to them so then they won't have control?

You are right on your take of this @KrauseHome However, I am of the opinion that you don't have to tell every doctor you see. I would simple want to keep my primary physician informed.

Many of these are expensive and takes more to do anything. It is something people really need to research.

I do use herbal medicine in addition to conventional medicine and we found that the things we got from the naturopath were expensive and not covered by insurance which is a hardship for man.
