Culinary Epic Fails: Country Ham Spread

A couple months ago I stumbled across a cookbook from the eighties and when reading through it shared a few of the more disturbing recipes that I found within the book. Well a few weeks ago I picked up three more 1980s cookbooks and figured I would continue with the grossness, but have renamed the series so it will be easier for all of us to remember it. The cookbook I am currently pawing through is Southern Living's 1987 Annual. So I am sure to find all kinds of weird things for us to ponder why they are even a thing. Today's gem is labeled as "Country Ham Spread" and you only need four things to make it. Now I don't know about you, but I like ham pretty well. There are plenty of different things you can make with it or include it in. However this is one thing that I will for sure not be doing with any of my ham in the future, country or not. The four things you would need for this devine creation of the eighties is mayo ( a whole cup of it), chopped and cooked country ham, pickle relish and brandy. That's right, you need to mix mayo and brandy. Please tell me that I'm not the only one who thinks its revolting to mix a liqour and mayo. Like who does that? EWWWW! It says you can serve it with crackers or toast points. But no thank you. I'll pass on this one. What about you? Would you try this concoction?

I know chefs experiment with flavors but putting brandy with mayo is "out there". May want to rethink your love of ham, just kidding

It's chopped ham mixed with pickle relish and mayo with brandy thrown in? Shudder.
