A Witch Doctor/ Impi And A Sweet Tooth!

Father's Day Cupcakes

My Dad said that it is probably the witch doctor that caused this to happen (he said it in great jest). The this I refer to is  the fact that our Adult Rugby team beat France 37-15 on Saturday in South Africa and then our Junior  Rugby team beat Junior France 37-15 on Sunday in Russia! You see, when the Springboks  (our adult Rugby team), run onto the field before a Rugby match, in South Africa, an "Impi" (Warrior) first runs out onto the field to sort of motivate the crowd and players. And my Dad keeps calling the Impi a witch doctor, saying he scares the visiting teams Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed watching both wins this weekend! And the cupcakes that we made for Dad were a big success (at least they did not nearly go up in flames like my biscuits). They were carrot, banana, cinnamon cupcakes with a vanilla and coffee icing! There is almost none left over. It's amazing how fast this weekend went by. And on a sweet note...I have heard somewhere, don't know if I heard it on the t.v. or radio, that, no matter what the problem, chocolate is the answer. And I whole heartedly agree! There is nothing like the soothing calming sweet taste of chocolate! Yes, apparently I am starting this week with a sweet tooth. How are you starting your week? Have a sweet Monday everyone! (And oh, I changed my profile pic again, and I am dashing off to make dinner again! Spaghetti Bolognese time  ) Photo is of the cupcakes and after I took the photo, I nicked one, yes I did...it's no chocolate but it hit the spot

I imagine that your father was more than happy South Africa won. I wanted to bake an apple pie to serve with vanilla ice cream, but it's so hot that I decided not to turn on the oven.

@LadyDuck , oh Anna, thank you . I would have loved to have a bowl of your vanilla ice cream! Maybe one day it could be a possibility, or at least a girl can dream.

There is so much content in your post, I don't know where to start. Plus, I have forgotten most of it so will have to go back and forth, reading and replying. I am a big rugby fan too and love to watch the internationals especially. The Springboks are always tough to play, even for the All Blacks. I try to watch the tri-nations when I can. Has Argentina joined in now? They'd be the whipping dogs if they have. England are the current 6 nations champions, but its the British Lions who are on tour right now. Did you mention food perchance?

@bluesa Oh dear, getting beat off the Pumas is as bad as us getting beaten by the Italians. Yes, I watched Rugby 7s. A fast game where you need to be super fit. England is doing well in Rugby and cricket right now. I do believe we are playing South Africa in a T20 competition right now. We won the 1st match so you need to pull your socks up to square the series. I love spag bol and have it most every week. Cupcakes I have to limit as it's getting harder to maintain my racing snake physique as I get older. Shame.

@Orson_Kart , it was heart breaking it was. Yes, England did well in 7's and the Blitzbokke were crowned world champions in 7's :) . Oh indeed there is currently a T20 match being played between SA and England and yes, England handed us our butts, in the first match, so hoping we can win this one :) . Don't worry, I too need to limit my cupcake intake or I would be a dumpling. We'll be sad together

@Orson_Kart , I am sometimes a bit too chatty . Yay, a fellow Rugby fan! The Springboks sadly went through a terrible time last year, and suffered some bad defeats, even against Argentina. In what is now called the Rugby Championship since Argentina joined. We are trying to make a come back this year and have to keep beating France. Have you heard of 7's Rugby? England is doing so well in Rugby and Cricket, very formidable. The British Lions are touring New Zealand currently? Oh yes, cupcakes and spaghetti have been mentioned

@bluesa Thank you Catherine. Here I am finally! The entire day was so lovely and special. My real cake was all white with vanilla custard center and buttercream frosting. The restaurant provided its own birthday surprise.

@bluesa well, here in my place, there are some who are witch doctors. a sister-in-law of mine was attacked by a witch doctor. i believe it is in our superstition and tradition that we believe in these human beings.

You can say those wins were the icing on the cupcakes. Yes chocolate is the answer. I made chocolate cream pie, I had a sliver and it was all gone.

That sounds like an interesting combination for a cupcake. I would like to try it. It sounds like the witch doctor made it happen is in the same family of sayings as the devil made me do it. It's interesting where sayings come from. .
