I may end up eventually having to use this - especially if the BBC Iplayer makes it impossible for you to watch t.v. without a log in.
Until then, I'll just use my VPN.
The Britbox is a streaming service that is $6.99 per month. It comes with a free trial, but am not sure how long the trial lasts.
Only posting this because I mentioned the possibility of this service coming to fruition ages ago and now it has..
for those interested.
Meanwhile, I pay $12.99 for a VPN and can access more channels as well as more countries television services if I so chose..

Your post here showed up thrice! Whoops!
Haha! Yes I am sure a lot of 'whovians' would get it for that alone. I've never watched an episode of Dr. Who, can you believe it?

@ScribbledAdNauseum You can thank Verizon's semi shotty service today for that beautiful thing.
Whoa! For someone who loves British things, I figured you would of seen it. Are you not a big sci fi fan? Or has it just never interested you that much? I don't think I'm as big of a sci fi fan as a lot of people that watch it, but I am a Whovian. Lol.

@thislittlepennyearns I am big on time travel so you think I'd like it. I imagine if I watched it I would be big on it.. OF course that's all I need, haha getting addicted to a t.v. program.
I used to have a hotspot from t-mobile. It was alright but not the best.

The bbc will do that eventually i'm sure.
I've now unplugged my aerial and digi box and taken them to my sisters as the tv licence people are probably going to appear at my door soon and as I dont watch tv anymore I don't want to give them any excuse to fine me

@Mike197602 I don't do much of my own searching on that, though I am sure I Could easily find websites that allow me to view UK t.v. (or any t.v. really) live and for free... I worry about spyware / malware on my computer and i don't actually have a current program to monitor that. My malware bytes program lapsed and I've not renewed it yet.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I use the site top mentioned...works well
There are a couple more similar ones where you can watch all uk channels but i'd have to find them again.
I found them when our aerial in the house blew down so I had to watch tv on the net.
for documentaries I now find channel 4 better than the bbc...maybe not for history stuff but more current uk issues.

Via the VPN? or through Britbox?
Britbox is only for BBC and is a streaming service. There are several BBC channels, but as for how many they use in this britbox, I wouldn't know.

We HAVE TO pay about thirteen or fourteen pounds a month for a tellybox licence. It's the law. This is the money that is used to support the making of BBC programmes and whatnot. I will be a very happy bunny when people in other countries are unable to watch through iPlayer or any other service without a subscription. If I want to watch American shows which aren't shown on Freeview or the terrestrial channels I have to pay for Sky, Netflix and Amazon. Which I do do. BBC iPlayer is just a more limited and tiny version of them!
As you can probably tell, this issue is a bugbear of mine! Lolz.

I would not mind paying a license fee to have access to the iplayer. The way I see it, this "britbox" isn't the answer. There is limited things you can watch, and while I know it's still new, I don't see it ever holding up to my expectations.
If there was a way for people from other countries to petition BBC to allow us access to their Iplayer with a monthly fee then I would definitely be doing so.

@Poppylicious There's too much for me to manage to take screen shots of what is on offer...

@ScribbledAdNauseum I suppose it depends what they choose to show. I just went to have a gander at the link but it wouldn't open the page because it's not available in the UK! If I could see what was available to watch I could have told you if it's worth your while. :)

You know, I liked Acorn for awhile but then I exhausted all of that. I used it through my firestick.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I know what you mean. You can blow through everything Acorn has in a month.

Look at topffer's post on this discussion before you go for the BritBox or VPN. The second link offered works for me.

@Bensen32 I hardly, if ever, watch American TV. What I do watch is usually streamed or older shows that are no longer being produced.

@ScribbledAdNauseum yea, i would have to look into it and see if it would work for me but if it does, it couldn't be worse than what is on tv here in America

cool. We have BBC America. My mother loves it. She had been watching the Planet Earth shows lately. Pluto Tv is another stream free tv thing, but I don't know if they have BBC.

This isn't BBC America lol.
This is BBC as it is in the UK.
Of course I've never watched BBC America so I don't actually know what programs they have.
