Are you hard at work?

United Kingdom
June 23, 2017 8:52am CST
I am most days, and especially today, which is unusual for a Friday. The days I am not so, I go home deflated. Although I am getting older I like to think I can keep it up for a few more years yet. I think the warm summer days helps. How are things at your end?

When I worked (now I´m retired) I worked better when I had a motivation. I was a professor at the university and I tried to do chnges in my lectures all the time to find it stimulating.

Yes, teaching can be repetitive. You do need to change it round a bit to prevent boredom. I look forward to retirement.

Hello Lovely Friend So nice to see you here and posting. I know you are busy working and all too. I hear it is killer heat in UK right now. It is the same here but not today..a soft cool rain. I too have been busy with this and that and am doing okay in general thanks. I may have to go take care of some legal papers today...wish me luck. You are a great trooper and keep going!

Nice to see you are still here too. I hope all went well on the legal front. The weather has been hot but it's cooler now. We are both troopers.

@Orson_Kart Yes it went okay but know govt places like to grill and drill you and keep their maze of paperwork and hoops going for the peasants. Alright good you are both managing in the heat Orson.

Pretty much darn busy too. And nearly off to make dinner. Winter might arrive this weekend at a 16C after 20C temps. I hope you are enjoying your summer @Orson_Kart

16 is often our normal summer temperature. It has been hotter this last week, Too hot for me. I am enjoying it very much thank you. Lots of strawberries and other things keep me happy. I can just about manage without dumplings. Is winter ok for you? I don't suppose it gets too cold there, does it? But it's not all about the weather is it. Day off today.

I had few challenging jobs in my career but over time I managed to compromise to have less stressful jobs. I went for balance and managed to find that before I retired - siva

I am still looking for that balance and I am not sure I'll achieve it until I retire.

@Orson_Kart It was not easy for me too as I took my jobs too seriously. However over time I I took up jobs that were less challenging. The reward was less and that was fine with me to balance with less stress - siva

Is it wrong of me if I read 2 meanings into a lot of this post? I'm bad!

Hmmm, have you ever been taken two ways before?

@FayeHazel I only get one meaning. The beauty of not being a native speaker. But I get the "bad" one only.

We have really enjoyed our retirement but then we have plenty of things to keep us busy. I know some people find it difficult when they first retire.

Hi Judy, You always appear very busy. You cram a lot into your life and hopefully most of it is fun. It's not long until I retire and I hope to get plenty.

@Orson_Kart I think if you're looking forward to it then it will be fun. Some people don't look forward to it as they have no idea what they'll do with all their spare time.

aging is not a nice thing is it, one feels it whenever the weather turns colder or hotter...

You're right there. I don't like a change in the weather. In fact I don't like change full stop!

@Orson_Kart The younger generation would say that we are too boring, don't like change!
