Pumpkin's positive post: A Good First Half, The Second Will Be Great

I am talking about this year. We are half way through 2017. Time seems to fly by. Apart from wondering how and if my other half and I will ever live together, and working for a total nightmare of a woman, this year hasn't been too bad. It's helped that I've been determined, that I've finally decided exactly what I want to do and to be more pro-active in achieving it. I've joined a gym again. Had to give that up last year while I was between jobs but D said I was happier and healthier when I was going regularly so I figured it was a good investment which will, hopefully, lead to increased productivity in other areas. Apart from 'nightmare boss', my job isn't too bad. I get to drive (which I like), I get to spend a lot of time outdoors (which I also like), and it pays well (which I also also like). I'm still keeping my eye out for other things, though, as well as working on my education and journalism work. I've been doing a lot of writing. Do any of you, per chance, write for Vocal? I've just had my fifth article accepted on there. They pay per 1000 views and I still have a way to go. If you're interested, I'm Sapphire M. Ravenclaw on there. I'm also going to interview someone for an article about a local charity and I've been asked to cover another story. So that's looking good. My boys are doing brilliantly, as always. Midi (my 17 year old) is waiting for some exam results but before that, he'll be going away on a cruise for two weeks with his Dad and grandparents. That will be amazing for him. He's never been abroad before. I just hope he doesn't get sea sick or too hot or anything! Mini (my 12 year old) has recently had an audition for a TV show. He said it was fun but we have to wait until next month to find out if he's through to the next stage. He also received a certificate yesterday for a play. The performing arts academy he attends put on their version of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Of course, I though they were great but the play was examined and they achieved a merit at Grade 6 so that was awesome, especially considering that most of the children are much younger than the average age of Grade 6ers. Mini is also doing really well at school. Of course, I am proud of him. He's going to be in a carnival next weekend, then he's going to camp the weekend after. As that is also the weekend that Midi travels, I will be child-free. So, as D asked for another date day (because he really enjoyed the one we had a couple of weeks ago at Birdland). He suggested dinner and a show but we couldn't find any shows, and we'd been talking about the beach and a weekend away, we decided to book somewhere. We were going to go from Friday to Sunday but it would have been really late to arrive at the seaside once we'd dropped Mini off at camp. So we settled for getting up early on the Saturday, spending the day at the seaside, having a nice meal somewhere, and coming back Sunday morning. I am really happy about all of that, and I am looking forward to what will be my first night away as a couple without the kids! In fact, it will be my first ever time away without children or my sisters. I'm also looking forward to our week's holiday in August when my step-daughter gets married. Can't wait to see our youngest granddaughter for the first time, and spend some proper time with both daughters and both granddaughters. Oh, before all of that, though, I'm going to see a show called 'Iconic'. It's a show with songs from iconic films. I told my sister I am going as Batman. Little does she know that I have actually gone and got myself a Batman outfit. It's too big but I thought the smaller one would be too small. Well, Midi, dorypanda (big sis), and I will be seeing that on Tuesday then D and I will be out for a meal with some friends on Friday. I expect he's forgotten about that because I had until I saw it written on my calendar! All I need now is for D and I to live together (hopefully before next year as we hope to get married then) and everything will be perfect. That's all from me, folks. I hope you're all having lots of fun. Tell me something that's made you happy or proud today. TTFN

It does sound like the first half of 2017 has been rather good to you. It is going down in the books as a loser for me but hopefully, the rest of the year will be better.

You would feel let down if you're expecting your son and he doesn't turn up. I hope has good reason! Glad you could think of something good, though. :)
