As I mentioned in a previous post, it was Canada's 150th Birthday on Saturday. Canada Day. Watched the celebrations in Ottawa, the nation's capital city, on TV before heading out. U2's Bono with Edge sang "One" It was emotional. Prince Charles and his wife were there but but it rained cats and dogs in Ottawa throughout the ceremonies.
We didn't have U2 but It was a lovely evening in the park in our city with fireworks, birthday cake and lots of great music and the weather was superb. After taking in the music we watched the spectacular fireworks for 20 minutes.
To get to the park we had used the Park and ride to a nearby university and took the shuttle bus to the park. However, on our way back the police blocked the roads to ensure the crowds on foot got out safely. But this meant that our shuttle bus was stuck and couldn't pick us up so with chairs strapped to our backs we made the 20 minute trek back to the parking lot. It was much quicker than waiting for the bus. But a memorable evening just the same.
How is your weekend going?

We usually take our chairs when we go to the park to sit on. We fold them and put them in a carrying bag with a strap. Similar to the one in the photo I added

It is nice we share our national birthday week. It sounds like you had lots of fun. Where we lived before we often walked about a mile to the location of our fireworks.

I saw that Gord Downie from The Tragically Hip made an appearance as well, which is encouraging given his health issues.
Happy birthday, Canada!!
