And Yet Another "What the Firetruck" Moment....

Granted, ol' hillbilly here isn't the brightest bulb in the box. Having said that, I thought we were in an era of "political correctness," where people took others' sensitivities into account. In fact, I remember the old "Frito Bandito" ads. You won't see those anymore (unless you go to You Tube and look). We're not allowed to see the Speedy Gonzales cartoons from Looney Tunes in the U.S. because they're "politically incorrect." (Oddly enough, they're wildly popular in Latin America....) So this ad that popped up in my Bejeweled Blitz game this morning really made me have a WTF (what the fire truck) moment. It's a new game, not some 60s retro Fritos Corn Chips ad. And yet, there's your stereotypical hombre with the sombrero, maracas, Frito Bandito mustache, and poncho. Someone at the PCPD (Political Correctness Police Department) out for donuts? Or is this okay now? If so, can we have our Speedy Gonzales cartoons back? If you're my age, you know this song, to the tune of "Cielito Lindo":

I can imagine your shock! I remember that Fritos song and it still pops into my head sometimes. I loved Speedy as a child and adult, too. PC had gone entirely too far and I predict if it keeps going we will be prohibited from speaking at all.

I remember the Frito Bandito. Like you said that would not fly these days. Neither would Speedy's cousin, Slowpoke Rodriguez.

Heck, if sombreros is stereotypical of Mexicans then all I can say is boy are they really smart. If you've never lived in a hot desert then you haven't a clue. By the way, Mexicans are citizens of Mexico, latinos or hispanics are Americans many of whom speak only English.
