Decision time on my new laptop

This morning, my brother and I arrived at Apple Store early and didn't have to wait in line. We walked right to the Genius Bar and talked to someone about my ill-fated computer problems that I've had for the past 10 months or so. They said, if I was going to get it repaired, it would be $755 to ship it to Apple in California and have it shipped back to the store. That's just to rebuild the hardware. I would've been sidelined with no computer for a week. I expected them to take a look at my computer and say it's toast, without giving me an option to have it repaired. I could've gone for it. But like my father said, it would've been placing a band-aid on a dying computer. Even the Apple sales person said, she would replace it in her shoes. She also said, in another year, my computer would be considered vintage. So that's when I've thought long and hard about buying a new computer or having it repaired.
I've went to a new computer in the end and decided about getting the MacBook Air (my original choice from 5 years ago) and the regular MacBook, which would be in the midst of my budget. After we weighed the pros and cons between the screen size and storage, price and color, I've opted for the MacBook Air at $1000 and paid extra for a 3-year Apple Care Protection Plan at $249. That brought the total to $1349.56, which is so worth it, even when my brother had added $50 into my account this week. I've made the right decision and my brother agrees with me too.
Then after lunch at Panera Bread and shopping for groceries and miscellaneous stuff, I came home around 2 PM and offloaded groceries. I also had to set-up my computer along with Internet and Macmail, which I had issues with to get a feel for things. That's why I was a bit offline this afternoon. At 3:10 PM, I checked in with my client at Upwork to see if he had any work for me. He didn't, though he did message me an hour ago, since he didn't expect me to work today. So we'll see tomorrow when I download the Upwork desktop app. Although it didn't rain, I do feel beat with a sore throat and passed on yoga today. I'll resume it next week.
It would take me awhile to get set-up this weekend. I'll be storing my external keyboard and speakers into my closet for safe-keeping and ditching my old laptop next week.

I would have purchased a new computer also. That was a lot just for a band aid! My computer was in the HP Company for over a month, so it might have ended up being a longer delay.

Wow, and that is why I don't have an Apple computer. I will stick to windows based PC's.

Pricey computer. I usually don't go above $500. Enjoy it, must be exciting.

Buying a new computer and setting it up gives me anxious moments till is well set.
In the end it well worth the trouble.
The laptop I am using - HP - is over six years but later ones have bitten the dust.
If the computer is over two years, I have found, it is not worth a major repair - siva

I used to use Mac's but then they got too expensive. So if I do buy another laptop. Which I do foresee happening before the year is up I will stick to PC.
I have seen mention of the upwork desktop app, but have yet to download it yet.
I hope you get used to your new laptop and are able to get some work done today.

April, you would need the desktop app for your time tracker for your assignments. It's a free download. No work today or yesterday. So I'll start fresh on Monday. Good for you.
