Would immortality be boring or exciting?

How do you view immortality? As something boring or as something exciting? If it was offered to you, would you jumb on it or would you refuse it? "When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”" (1 Corinthians 15:54 New International Version) Why I don't think it would be boring. I am 68 years old and still enjoy eating, friendship, love, etc. My father lived to be over 100 and as long as he wasn't in pain, he enjoyed many things. He loved it when I took him to a vegetable garden and he could see tomatoes and cucumbers growing. What would you find exciting? What would you find boring?

My mother lived to 104 and mostly still enjoyed life. She loved flowers and nature and we would often take her out into the garden or for a drive.

That's nice to hear! I think that if we have good health, love and interesting activities that we enjoy, it would be exciting to know that we have plenty of time to do all that we want to do.

I find doing different things exciting and doing nothing very boring.

So true! But when one does nothing it is not immortality that is a problem but the individual. There are many exiting things to do for those that want to do something. When one does not want to do anything, that person is not well.

As long you are immortal too and mylot is still here, I don't think it would be boring at all.

Living to 100 is much different than living for eternity. After 40 your body goes gradually downhill so not sure what state it will be in at year 150. If I stayed healthy and physically and mentally well then maybe.

Yes, if we are going ti live forever than our bodies would have a balance of where we would stay at the peak of our health and looks of let's say 30-35 and remain in that state with perfect health.

If all who I love would be able to be immortal, too, than I'd be very happy. I've never been bored a day in my life.

I understand your point about loved ones! I have a hard time understanding those that say that life would be boring. When it comes to eating, we might get bored if we ate the same foods every day but as long as we vary our meals, there is no boredom. I had lunch and in my mind I already planned my supper.

@DianneN Just for the pleasure of eating I would want to live forever and that is not number one of the things I enjoy about life.

@1hopefulman I meant it when I said that I was never bored. I have never uttered those words. When it comes to food, boredom is never a problem for us

If we are give eternal life, I am sure our loving Creator will have a lot of things to do for us.. One is making the earth to a paradise garden - just learning to know everything about the things like plants and other things that grow and about the animals - and learn about the universe... endless possibilities!!

I agree with you whole-heartedly that God made us to live forever right here on this earth and that one day our long life will be restored. Psalm 37:29 New Life Version 29 Those who are right with God will be given the land, and live on it forever. Matthew 5:5 New Life Version 5 Those who have no pride in their hearts are happy, because the earth will be given to them.

@1hopefulman Since we are able and independent on doing our works, it is fine. But when we start to depend on others for our needs, then life will not be that much easy.

That's the key, finding many things that we enjoy and having the time to enjoy them continually. Take eating foe example. I have been eating for 68 years and every day I enjoy eating. That can be said for many other things that I enjoy.

It depends how we feel and how we are. I imagine that people in a bed suffering would not like to be immortal. I do not know.

You are right! We need a number of conditions that need to come with it and to also have good health is one of the important conditions of making living forever appealing.

@LadyDuck Yes, enough money to care for our needs is important. We need to know how to live within our budget and not waste it. I find that when I am healthy I need less money than when I'm sick.

@1hopefulman The health is important, but also to have enough money not to be obliged to work for the eternity.

I think if I could have my loved ones with me and it was a good life, immortality would be wonderful @1hopefulman . I would keep enjoying all life has to offer, music, sunrises and sunsets, food, adventures. I don't think I would ever get bored.

Yes, for us to enjoy living forever there would have to be certain conditions as you bring out. We are actually designed to live forever and to find enjoyment in living. As an example, notice our taste buds that have the capacity to enjoy different nuances in foods such as grapes. Notice the variety in grapes and each one has its own particular taste. We also have the intelligence to make a new variety that has never existed. Why all this, if we were meant to only live a short time?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search "Wine grapes" redirects here. For the book, see Wine Grapes. This list of grape varieties includes cultivated grapes, whether used for wine, or eating as a table grape, fresh or dried (raisi

@1hopefulman , I have asked myself that very question many times. Why do we get such intelligence, such capabilities, why do we get to experience the beauty of sunsets and sunrises, the wonderful taste of food? We fall in love with life and then we only get so many years, it doesn't make sense, I will never understand this.

@1hopefulman , yes, I am aware of all that. It was more that I was saying it is a pity that those events led to what we all go through in life, that for now we do pass on. When we were given everything to be immortal but for a wrong choice being made. The puzzle to me is why we are put through it all. It is a puzzle for many, but that is life, mostly one big puzzle, at least for me. Agreed, and yes the state of mankind makes that very clear.

Doesn't God offer us all that and more? When and if we live eternally, everybody alive will love us, we will love them and only the wicked will not be there.

@1hopefulman I know what you are saying, but sometimes people do struggle. I think you are talking about heaven, and I did not know that. I thought you meant like we are now. People do struggle and if we were going to live like we are right now in human form...I would rather not have to struggle.....It is tiring.

Well..immortality could be amazingly awesome. You get to enjoy a lot of things this world has, yes. But..there's also the pain of it I think..like..you get to watch your love ones die.. Be left behind..sort of.

The immortality sounds to be great. However, I may not take it since I hate to see the people I love die one by one except for me. I think this will be painful to see it.

Remember, the prospect of living forever would not be a gift that God would offer only a few individuals. It is offered to all of us. John 3:16 New International Version (NIV) 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

It would mostly be exciting, but not practical. there would be no room for us all with new babies being born and nobody dying. So people would have to walk on each other`s heads.
