Well, last night was different comparatively speaking.
Thunderstorms are rare here and when the thunder sounds like it's overhead it can be very scary.
Sometimes when we do get thunderstorms those clouds seem very close to the roof of my home and when that lightening bolt lights up the house for a slit second before that really really loud BOOM it usually means lights out soon after.
The subdivision I'm in sits on the lower end of a slope off the mountain putting it at a higher plane than other subdivisions around us and usually they are the ones that flood not us.
Yep, I lost power for 4 hours last night.
This morning I looked through shots I took in 1998 when we had a similar thunderstorm, back then it took almost a whole day for the electric company to get the power back on and a lot of people around here had a heck of a time because it was so hot and they couldn't run their A/C. I'm not crazy about A/C so I fared better than my neighbors.
The picture above is of my back yard in 1998 after a storm. It took over 3 days for all that water to finally evaporate.
So, thanks everybody for sending rain my way but please, no more thunderstorms, ok?

It does not thunderstorm often here so when it does, I always get scared. But nothing loud or major. I'm glad everything okay for you - but hopefully no more for you anytime soon.

Yep, that was scary and thank you.
I hope we get more rain only without the lightening and thunder.

You're lucky. Power outages don't happen that often here but usually it takes them at least 4 to 6 hours to get it back on.

It is not here right now, maybe we will get more rain later but I can do without the lightening.

We used to live in Dallas and I remember how violent those thunderstorms can be. I am glad you are all OK.

Thankfully I've never had to live near Dallas but I recall visiting dads folks there and boy did they have a scary storm. Here in El Paso we don't usually get thunderstorms and if we do it's usually only one like last night then we'll be ok til the next year. I'm so glad they are so rare.

Yep, Dallas isn't the kind of place I'd want to live @DeborahDiane El Paso is a good 635 miles west of Dallas. El Paso is the farthest westerly city before you get to NM. I'm always shopping in Las Cruces NM which is about a 45 mile drive more or less depending on where I want to shop.

@rebelann - You are lucky. Our first seven years living in a suburb south of Dallas, our house was hit by tornadoes three times! We had thunderstorms all the time!!

That's a lot of rain. When I was a kid I am afraid of thunderstorms and lightning.

Yes it was a lot of rain. I am afraid of lightening and I don't really like thunder either but I would like a little more rain.

Yes, the boom over the house did make me jump but luckily all it did was knock out the power. Thank you.

Wish you all the best weather wise.
