Are all hospitals outsourcing services like Peacehealth has?

I have an appointment for my annual checkup at the end of the month. I received notification that I should go the the hospital lab to have blood drawn for various tests the doctor wants, so all pretty much routine. But, when I walked into the clinic area of this vast hospital, the sign where their lab used to be read "Quest Diagnostics." Maybe they moved the lab, I thought, but no, they just sold off the lab work to another entity. Emergency room doctors in many hospitals work for physician groups not affiliated with the hospital. Maybe it is my age and that I just like a top to bottom line of responsibility in medical care, but this trend is moving hospitals int landlord status, sort of renting out space to physician groups and staffing companies. Have you seen evidence of this outsourcing at hospitals in your area? Oh, the good news is that I could see my test results online this morning. They look alright (I think).
