Why Do People Delete Their Discussions?

August 2, 2017 11:57am CST
I have a few connections that I will notice don't keep any of their discussions on here. I'll pop over to their page & sometimes there will be one. Then the next time I go over there, nothing will be there. I'm curious to know why? Do you keep your discussions here on this site? Or do you eventually delete them? If you do, why do you? Mine are all here.

I have always heard, wanna find someone, look online. People stalk some people and if there is nothing left for them to see, them better for us. I used to have 5 blogs and now I am down to two and one I will get back up soon on cooking. But while I had one blog going I was having problems at work, seemed that one blog was getting 200 to 1,000 hits each time I posted and I was happy with the following BUT I also found out that when I slacked on that blog certain people began to ask questions about my work / business. I put two and two together and I have not written on that blog in almost a year and the problems disappeared. So I think some delete to not keep their thoughts available for others to read over and over. As for me, mylot is a place to chat and I dont mind leaving all of them up.

Search me. I don't understand that, either. What's wrong with keeping old discussions?

@LoriAMoore Ah, yes. We know that this explains many aberrations from the norm!

there's nothing wrong with it if that's what you choose to do...just as there is nothing wrong in deleting all your discussions if that's what you choose to do. As long as the starter gets back to all the responders and leaves a couple of hours between the last activity and deletion then nobody loses out,

@Mike197602 I'd never say that it's wrong, only that I don't understand it.

I just saw a discussion on this topic a few days back. I find it strange people do this.

I think it is mostly when a question has been solved or maybe they were not happy with the post. All my posts are there for everyone to see haha if they get deleted, I am not the one doing that.

I only delete a discussion if I regret posting it. Like maybe I'll write it out and post it, but then re-read and think "maybe I shouldn't post that online." You never know who will be reading what you post online, after all. :/

yes I do. I don't think I have deleted any of mine. I have no idea why they're deleted.

I don't really understand the reasons for deleting. So far I have not deleted any and doubt if I will

I delete all of mine after I feel I've said all I can say to the responders. Because I respond a lot more than post my own discussions I often find people giving me a response just because I responded to them. Often it used to be on old discussions about very specific things that I've now moved on from. Deleting all my discussions makes things a lot more simple

I used to delete outdated discussions (the system is cluttered by posts about last Christmas and the election etc of no interest now) but it's such a time consuming task I haven't bothered in a long time. Virtually all my TV posts are pointless now.

I never delete mine, I can't understand why people would do that. I've had one deleted by admin which I've just written about.

I have no idea. I keep all of my discussions. One thing I might think of is when I have moved from one site to another I delete discussions that ere not very well responded to or not responded to at all and then rewrite them and post them on some other site or use them for my blogs. Anyway everything I have ever written here is here and thee are time I have seen in notifications that someone has picked out one of my old discussions and commented on it so that is something I like.

I don't delete them...I like to go back and see what others have written. It can be quite illuminating....adding background to the story.
