Favorite "Direction" Songs #9 - "Wild Wild West"

Think about it. No matter where you are going, you are headed either north, south, east or west. Hence, my Favorite "Direction" Songs series, basically songs with one of those directions in the title. We are at #9: "Wild Wild West" by Kool Moe Dee. A former member of The Treacherous Three, Grammy winner Kool Moe Dee holds the distinction of being the first hip hop artist to perform at the Grammy's, and was also known for his beef with LL Cool J (despite this, he ranked LL Cool J at #7 in his book, There's a God on the Mic, in which he ranked his 50 favorite rappers, including himself at #5.) 1988's "Wild Wild West," a tune dealing with gang violence, reached #4 on Billboard's R&B chart, although it stalled at #62 on that magazine's Hot 100. The video, which I've linked to, shows Kool Moe Dee and his posse dressed up spaghetti western style in the snow. It was a popular video, at least in the canteen that my friends and I hung out in on Fort Gordon in Georgia, where it received constant play. It's definitely a highlight of 80's hip hop. I like the other "Wild Wild West" song from the 80s or was it the early 90s?

@teamfreak16 thinking more of the movie than its theme song - the original TV show was fun though

Did James West (Robert Conrad) from the Wild Wild West TV show provide the inspiration for this tune?

Probably not, since it's about gangs, but Will Smith also did a "Wild Wild West" for his movie that was based on it. One of my favorite shows when I was a kid.

The last I saw Robert Conrad, he was daring people to knock a battery off of his shoulder.
