Don't You Want Me (Or More Precisely, My Stuff)?

Well, that is interesting.
I'm in the process of cleaning house. As an asthmatic, that takes time. I'm on my second day of cleaning the kitchen, for instance. I have to go slow to avoid too much exposure to dust or anything else that can land me in the emergency room. That makes cleaning a little on the arduous side: by the time I'm finished in the living room, it's time to start on the back room again.
Amid the cleaning I'm also rearranging furniture and tossing out things I don't need/use any more. (Usually when I say I'm "cleaning house" that's what I mean: rearranging, kicking stuff to the curb, and running out of Swiffer supplies, instead of just swiff-swiff, done.)
It's time to say adios to the stove. I thought it'd be a good idea to call a local charity to have them pick it up and use it to help the poor and the homeless. So, I called to make an appointment.
And I received a recorded message telling me, contrary to what their trucks that drive around say on the side and what their website says, they aren't accepting donations.
I don't know exactly how to read that. Are they doing so well with donations and money that they have all they need? Or is the economy good now, meaning that people aren't shopping at thrift stores?
At any rate, I think the least they could do is put a note on the web site that says, "We are not taking household item donations at this time." That's supposedly one of the good things about the internet: you can keep it current, unlike a phone book.
Oh, well.

Love that song..
Wow thats odd, a strange message indeed.
I hope you find somewhere to donate that too as I am sure some family would be grateful for it.

I don't have asthma but because of pet hair and a dusty environment (desert) I too have problems when cleaning especially if it's areas like behind stove or fridge so I use those face masks, I get them mostly cuz of the litter boxes, hate those things.

I use the dust masks, too, and I have the same disdain for them. Our problem in the Ohio Valley is the humidity, so 85 here feels worse than 105 there.

I don't like humidity at all @FourWalls but when it's dry there is a lot of dust, pollen and hair that simply floats around cuz their's no humidity to keep it on the ground.

That's strange, here they need all the donations they can get. They should update to save wasted time.

They really should update their website as it only takes seconds.

One of my favorite songs naturally. Your post title would make a great country song. I can envision some good ol' boy sangin' about some woman wantin' him for his stuff. Or a song about the old geezer who married Anna Nicole Smith.

They could redo this as a country song. "I was working as a snuff queen in a honky tonk..."

I remember this song, it was one of the most popular ones in the 80s.

Yes, that is very interesting. I always thought place like this were more than happy to accept what they can get.

Those places want clothing more than anything else.
