Getting that Photo!

Mylot discussions seem to attract more attention when there is a photo.
They do even better when it's a good photo and it has to do with the subject of your discussion.
My latest discussions have been about the quilts I am entering in the fair for judging.
Some of these quilts are quite large and finding a place to take a good photograph can be challenging.
The clothesline works if the quilt isn't too big and it's not too windy (it's almost always windy near the lake.). The living room floor works when I move the furniture and stand on the back of the loveseat....not good for the loveseat, or for me (falling could be disastrous).
My latest quilts have been spread out on our deck and I've used a step ladder to get high enough to take the photo.
Enjoy this photo of my most recently completed fair entry.

When I was busy running my store, in had very little time to quilt. Retirement has kept me busy with my elderly parents and now my father, but I still find time to feed my soul by quilting.

@Morleyhunt I bought some fabric for a baby quilt. It's very soothing to quilt.

Wow, that quilt is gorgeous! I bet you'll win a blue ribbon with that.

@Morleyhunt Oh, a red ribbon is first place there? Here in the US, first place is a blue ribbon and 2nd place is a red ribbon.

Actually Vicki, I live in Canada so I'd rather win the red ribbon, 1st place.

First off, let me start by saying that I really love that quilt!
I am horrible about using photos in my posts, mainly because I write most of my posts from my laptop, and I have very few photos stored there. Now, if I was posting from my smartphone, that would be a very different story, as I have thousands of photos stored there! haha

@Morleyhunt I've now got all my devices set up where they sync with each other, so now if I take a photo with my smartphone, it will also show up on my desktop and laptop. But the thousands of photos I took before I synced everything won't transfer unless I do it manually.

Thank you. I write most of my mylot comments and discussions on my iPad. I have lots of photos stored there, but find that taking a picture of a quilt with my iPad can be an exercise in frustration. I take the photo with my smartphone....email it to myself....save the image to my iPad. There probably an easier way, but this works for me.

You really do work hard to get a good photo. Take care of yourself when you do it. The photo is very clear and thanks for sharing it.

At our new home I hang the quilt on the clothesline. As long as the wind is not too strong I can get really great photos.

A bit at a time.....all of the bright colours and whites were scraps. Then once I was ready to assemble.....the navy sashing also came from my scraps. It was the corner posts (navy and white) that I purchased as well as the backing fabric.

Getting all of it in the photo was a challenge. I thought I was going to need a taller ladder.

Thank you. I'm sure that several of my children will point to certain fabrics and say.....I remember.....
