I just downloaded and cropped the recent photos I took and got a few really nice surprises. When I got home from shopping Wednesday the first thing I saw as I got out of the car were my Black Eyed Susans and wouldn't you know there was a busy bee tasting the nectar so I grabbed my camera and followed her around. Most of my shots didn't come out this good but this one was a surprise. She was a big bee, well, at least she was bigger than the ones I'm used to seeing. Is she a bumble bee? I only ask because I don't know if I've ever seen one before.

I really like Black-Eyed Susans! Those and sunflowers are such wonderful looking flowers. Must be the yellow color I like so much. Great photo, makes a good action shot!

Me too, I'm hoping I can get those huge sunflowers to grow again but I think I'll wait until January to put the seeds in, the mourning doves love to eat them and they aren't as active in our short winter. Thank you, I was lucky she wasn't too active when I shot this one, the other shots I took aren't as good.

@rebelann Those doves can be quite the scavengers although I still like them. They do a good job of eating the excess seeds from my bird feeder.

Feed them millett and they might leave the rest of the seeds alone @dgobucks226 they are a greedy bunch but the do love millett.

Love the photo - how bright and beautiful - perfect on this summer day. I don't know my "bees", but we just call any big bee that buzzes around and flies like a drone a bumble bee . . . the ones out here seem to be all black.

Oh, that one I know, they're called carpenter bees, we have them here too. They are huge and a half size larger than the one in the picture.

@rebelann See, you know bees better than me . Wow, this bee is that much littler than those buzzing black bees? You really did a great job in framing the photo the way you did - it looks bigger than life!!

It's a crop job @much2say the rest of the photo was too junky so I cropped that stuff out.

It sure looks like a bumble bee, but could be a borer bee. They tend to look quite similar.

Bumble bees are quite larger than honey bees. Maybe different coloring?

I have no clue, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a bumble bee but I do get some really tiny ones, medium sized ones, the black carpenter bees and now this one. I hope it's a bumble bee, the more bees the merrier.
