First actual day of cyber school for my son

I have a few minutes right now before my son's cyber school to pop in and write a post. His live classes today are from 8:15-12:15. Then he likely will have homework.
The past three days we did some pretty simple orientation live lessons. Today is the first actual day of learning.
Last year was so tough with my son's crying all day that I was dreading this school year. I am going to try my best to stay positive. I am going to put distractions away and try to learn right along with him.
I will pop in later to go through notifications and see how everyone is doing. I really missed being here this summer. I was just to busy with my kids to be more active and wasn't really feeling like being online. Now that I am back here I realize how much I missed it.

I am praying he does better. Maybe just being a little older and understanding there is no choice in having to sit and be bored and learn will help. So far so good today. We got through one class...Social Studies. Starting Science in just a moment.

I am so tired I would love to hear to bed now but it is way to early. I can say after getting up at 7am all week I had really enjoyed sleeping in all summer. I greatly look forward to sleeping in again tomorrow morning. I think my kids and I are going shopping tomorrow to spend their money they earned from their yard sale last weekend.

@Tina30219 I got to sleep until 9:30. As soon as I got up I got a call from my niece asking if I could help her with the baby who kept crying for her mom. I watched her for about a half hour or so. When my sister picked the baby up she brought me a donut from Dunkin Donuts. I had already eaten a few cookies. I didn't eat much else throughout the day and had a late dinner so now I have a head ache.

I am hoping this can be a help for your son. It is important to help them see and understand learning is Fun and want to continue to do so. As to not being active here, I do understand as I have been quite active myself lately with a lot of other things.

He enjoys science class the most but today they showed close up views of spiders heads and ants crawling around and it creeped him out really bad. He cried and ran into the bathroom. It was a fairly good day though and shorter then other school days for him will be.

He did very well all summer since he didn't have to do any school but that was how he was the previous summer. For whatever reason schooling is his trigger. Today went okay. He was done with everything by noon. Next week he will start having homework so there will be more to do after the live classes. After he had lunch I got time to go out and mow the lawn and finished up just as my daughter was getting home. I am making dinner now and I sure am tired.

@JudyEv Public school was harder for him to handle emotionally. Actual homeschooling rather then cyber school would likely work better as he could do that off and on all day instead of sitting in from of a computer for hours. But I do not feel I would be able to teach him most subjects alone. I like him being able to learn from the teachers in the live classes.

That is great your son doesn't have to go back to the school that he struggled with. Thank goodness for Online/Cyber Schools that exist now!

I sure hope it goes well with the cyber school. If I'd had that opportunity with my kids I might have tried that too. That was before computers, heh heh. And I had to go to work anyway. Let us know how it goes

Even if you have to work you could have done the old school homeschooling with books. But working and doing the cyber school I think would be too hard as they have to attend live classes at certain times. I suppose if someone worked nights they could do the school with their kids during the morning then sleep after that but it would be tough.

Most days are going pretty good thankfully. Yesterday was a bad day but in the month or so since cyber school started I think we've only had 3 or 4 of these bad days.

I am trying. Today went okay. He cried twice and was very worried because the teacher had them fill out this thing for math and it was their birth day month, pets owned, how long it takes to get ready for school etc... It was just for fun but he felt like she was a stalker and said he won't be able to sleep at night now since he is worried about it. He worries to much!
