Did you have a favorite comic strip somewhere along the way?

When I was little, I would read Charlie Brown (Peanuts). In elementary school, we all wanted to be "cool" like Snoopy. I still watch Charlie Brown Specials if they're on TV. Later, I liked Doonesbury. Still later, I liked Life on Hell.
But my all-time favorite comic strips is probably Calvin and Hobbes, by Bill Watterson. The humor is adult, but never vulgar. The writing is clever, and the illustrations are great. I scored a Calvin and Hobbes "collection" the other day in a free book bin and grabbed it immediately. It now sits next to my second favorite reading place.
Did you ever read Calvin and Hobbes? Have you had favorite funnies along the way?

Doonesbury. When I was a kid I liked 'Our Boarding House." I don't follow the comics anymore at all but I have a nice bunch of Doonesbury books

@TheHorse I have at least threel of the large-format Calvin and Hobbes books, and one of them is a German copy of the one I have in English. Amazing how the text can differ between languages for the same strip.
When you're through your book, yes, if you're into Twitter at all, follow one or both of the accounts in the pic above for your daily dose of little boy and larger tiger humo(u)r.

I never liked Charlie Brown much, never really understood Doonesbury (a friend who loved it often used to share it with me but I just didn't find it funny), and I've never heard of Life on Hell. But I love love love Calvin and Hobbes! Can't remember how I first came across them, I think a friend introduced me, but now I have about 4 of the big collections. The one shown though is still my favourite - in fact I was just talking about it the other day with a friend as we were walking in the woods with our children!
If you ever visit the UK you must call in and we can have a coffee, listen to Richard Thompson and laugh over Calvin and Hobbes together!

@TheHorse - Sorry I have been gone for the past few weeks. We had a lot of family stuff going on. However, you and I have the same taste in cartoons! I also love the Peanuts characters and Doonesbury is my favorite political commentary ... along with Calvin and Hobbes.

I've always loved Calvin and Hobbes too, but my all-time favorite is Garfield. I can't explain why; it just is. Maybe it was the cartoon that originally sold it for me.
My friend also introduced me to a discontinued strip called Big Top about ten years ago. I recommend it for anyone who hasn't heard of it.
