Potbelly, oh my.

This is the sign hanging at the restaurant my friend and I dined at yesterday afternoon. She had to get her car fixed and didn't want to be stuck at the garage all day after dropping it off. So I picked her up, and after a few errands we wanted to try a new place for lunch. She had heard of a new place called Potbellys, in a new, trendy part of town. It's a sandwich shop, and I am not a big fan of those, but I'll try almost anything once. It was really good, and of course they served soups and salads too. If you got a sandwich you could pick from their own line of chips, which were delicious. I chose Voodoo Heat (it wasn't like fiery jalapeno heat), and they were the best kettle chips I have ever eaten. Because she asked me so last minute to pick her up from the garage she wanted to pay. I think she was grateful not to have to sit and read at the mechanic's for three hours.
The potbelly name of the place is in reference to the potbelly stove inside of their restaurant. Are you a person who is game to try something new? Or, are are you a tried and true restaurant devotee?

That's a funny name for a restaurant. It would make me laugh, but it might make me go in. I unfortunately can't eat in many restaurants because of gluten intolerance which is not recognized in Japan.

Although there are some restaurants that I really like, I am always game to try something new . . . and it's even better if it turns out to be a new favorite. That was nice of you to pick up your friend so she didn't have to sit around (seriously, there's not much to do in a mechanic's waiting room).

Love homemade soups. It would have been a place I would try. Homemade chips too! Have had them a few times in other places and some are good, some are just fried without any added flavor.

I think it depends on how much of a hurry I am in, and also just other things about the day. Sometimes going new places gives me anxious feelings. I could probably be talked into Potbelly's though.

Like you, I'm willing to live dangerously and try something once. But most off the time it is a disappointment. I have my favorite foods and am contend.
When I saw the name I thought that the food there would give one a potbelly and who wants that?

Ha ha! Love it. Is Potbelly a chain? There used to be a submarine sandwhich place around called "Blimpie" which I found funny. Every once in awhile I like a sub. Nice offer of your friend to pay - you gave her a big favor. Do you think you will go back there?
