Do you use cast iron pans? I use them as much as I can. There is nothing like fried chicken cooked in one. They are also a great pan to make a deep dish chicken pot pie. Just put in the crust add the filling and stick it in the oven. Once you get them seasoned correctly you are set to start have some deliciously cooked food. They are easy to cook in, no food doesn't stick. They seem to heat evenly and the are the strongest of pans. I am not sure there is anything you can do to destroy them. We use them at home and we use them when camping. I sure do love my cast iron pans.

I used to swear by cast iron pans, but lately I do love my gotham ceramic pan, nothing sticks and it looks so much cleaner then the cast iron does. No seasoning, but its a trade off.

@HazySue No, the gotham pan doesn't scratch at all. Its the one that they show someone with a hand mixer beating eggs in it on the tv commercial. It makes the best crepes.

Cast iron pans are amazing! I have a couple that I use all the time. They are great for camping, but I also like to cook bacon and sausage and such in them at home. Food just seems to taste better coming from a cast iron pan.

I would guess that they do. I would have every pot, pan, cooking surface cast iron if I could.

My parents had them while I was growing up. I remember working to get food out of them. I don't remember them not sticking. I also had a set at one time. I gave them up because they are so heavy. I liked them, and wouldn't mind having a set, but too heavy for me.

@HazySue I think it depended on what was made in them. I remember using a brillo pad and scouring them clean.

@just4him I think that might have just done it, ruined your seasoning. Did you season it again after that?

There is that, they are awfully heavy. I don't have the problem of sticking.

Since I moved into this apartment, I don“t Susan as the electric stove does not suit me at all. I love gas to cook with and would use iron on that. I am glad you are able to use yours. I love the old cast iron.

They last forever and they cook everything evenly and tastefully. Too bad you don't have the gas stove you like.
