Even In My Dreams...

I haven't had a nightmare in years and if I dream at night, I don't really remember them, because lately I haven't been sleeping, so when I do it seems it is a blank few hours. Also I did learn over the years that reality can be scarier, real events can be scarier than any fake monster. And I am very moody and no nonsense! So I was unpleasantly surprised to have a unsettling dream two nights ago, so unsettling, I remember each detail. In this unsettling dream, I was standing by a chair in my room when a tall figure with long hair tied back, wearing a sweater and stone washed denims seemed to be gliding toward me at a very quick pace. I don't know why it was heading for me, I just know I did not like the vibe I was getting and I in a very firm and loud voice said "OUT, OUT, GET OUT NOW, GET OUT NOW!" The figure froze and I could see it wanted to keep coming at me, but it was going to turn and leave, because I was not going to budge on my stance, and that is when I woke up. I am still unsettled by it, but it seems that even in my dreams I am no nonsense and will not back down. Have you had dreams where you fought and would not back down? I certainly hope I don't have another dream like that though.

@JustBhem , yes, it is a struggle and I have sleeping pills that I should take to start a sleep pattern but my nights are busy and I don't have a set time I go to sleep, but I am going to have to try.

@bluesa Did you consult a Doctor about that? Is it bad?

I have weird dreams all the time. I have problems sleeping and when I fall asleep I have this kind of dreams. Strange people talking at me, mysterious places that I think to know but I have never seen before. I am happy when I wake up.

@bluesa I cannot understand how I can have so many dreams in the few hours I sleep. I always eat light, I see no reason for those weird dreams.

@LadyDuck I am not certain why you would have so many dreams, maybe you have a very active mind and it does not settle at night? The night I had my unsettling dream I was extremely restless and had a lot on my mind. I think that is what causes weird dreams..though I am not certain.

I swear I usually don't dream, because, like you, I don't sleep much. So this caught me unawares. I am sorry you have such disturbing dreams, Anna . I was also happy to wake up from this dream.

@bluesa Your response made me think of this song.

I had a really crazy nightmare as a child that I still remember vividly to this day. In the dream, the devil came to get me and drag me to Hell, but I wouldn't go. I was sleeping in the top bunk of the bunk bed in my room (my little brother was sleeping in the bottom bunk). The devil got angry with me and told me he wasn't leaving without taking something, so he tried to grab my pillow. He and I tugged back and forth on the pillow as I fought to keep him from taking it. Finally, with one strong tug he went down through the middle of my bed mattress, pulling the pillow through the mattress as well. Then he was gone. I woke up screaming, and my parents came running in. I was yelling that the devil took my pillow. When my parents turned on the light, my pillow was gone! After searching around the room, they looked under my brother's bed (the bottom bunk), and there was my pillow under his bed. UNDER his bed. I still to this day cannot explain how that pillow got from my top bunk to underneath my brother's bottom bunk. Still scares the hell out me to this day thinking about it.

Jeez, Jeff. Are you trying to give me sleepless nights? I only have Daisy to cuddle with, you know! No boyfriend, no fiance! Just little Daisy! But, I must say, you did not back down in your dream either, you put up one heck of a fight actually! I don't know how that pillow could have gotten there...very strange. Scary, gulp...

Yes "C" stress and an overactive mind. When I can't sleep those are the culprits. Maybe some warm milk and fudge will help with the insomnia. Too bad it wasn't a pleasant dream to remember, but in my case most times they are not. Here is a picture quote from Buddha to contemplate.

Hi, "D" . Sorry you also battle with these. Yes, I could have done with not having this dream at all. And sorry that most times you have unpleasant dreams . Thank you for the quote and thank you for being thoughtful you.

That's one bothering dream you have there. It's almost the same as mine, when I'm having my sleep paralysis...

It was very creepy. And usually I don't remember dreams, I am convinced I usually don't dream at all, so yeah. Sorry you get sleep paralysis, that must be awful.

@bluesa yes very awful... I had it ever since I was 15 years old. It's like being aware that you're dreaming and yet you cannot wake up no matter what you do. And the sad part is that there's no cure to it. That's what my doctor said.

@Alian123 oh no, sorry, thank goodness I have not experienced that. I was able to wake up straight away when I knew the figure was going to turn and leave. Could you try a sleep clinic? They might be able to come up with a solution.

I dream or have nightmares almost every night, even if I take a nap. They all leave me unsettled. Did you actually speak aloud in your dream?

Sorry to hear that my dear, dear friend . I don't know, don't have any one to tell me if I spoke out loud, but in my dream my voice was very loud and very determined, I could maybe have been mumbling outside of the dream...

Like you I rarely remember dreaming, if I do in fact dream. The few times I do, i generally don't remember what I dreamed. I do vividly remember a dream I had when my children were in their teens. To this day that dream causes me to get chills when I remember it. It was that real.

that is weird, but nice to know you woke up. it can be a nightmare, and medically speaking, it can be due to pancreatitis.

Thank you my friend, but I think it was just a nightmare, though I will have my pancreas checked at my next check up.

Oh dear, I'm sorry for that scary dream. You're right - real life is a lot more scary than anything else. I have started trying this - for unwanted thoughts. It sounds crazy (tapping your hand, rolling your eyes, and humming) but.... it does seem to work. Hope it helps

No, no spider, well, I hope it wasn't a spider on me! I think it was because I was restless and my mind is too active. And I have been stressed lately.

Do you happen to be under some sort of stress in real life? Something, someone who annoyed you badly and you couldn't find a way to avoid them?

Yes, I have a lot of stress and a lot of annoyances, so yes it could have led to this unsettling dream. I hope I don't have it again though.

@bluesa I had similar dreams when some of my younger relatives frequently frustrated me (3 or 4 decades ago). I remember shouting in my dream, shaking with anger at times, and they would look at me like, 'what did I do wrong?' Your dream shows no specific face or ID, means you just got fed up with too many things. (Overloaded! )
