And that was a bad experience I had ever had ! 20 years ago, I was working as a General Clerk in a transportation company. I used to dine at the same row of the shop house where the company was located. One of the shop was a noodle shop where I got aquantance with the lady boss who was looking for a tuition teacher to teach her Primary 3 girl Malay language.
The girl was in Chinese medium school so her Malay subject results were very poor. Out of 50 marks, she gets 15 . Average passing mark was 25. I decided to take up the tuition teacher job since I needed extra income to pay off my dad's debt. I gave tuition to the girl at her house on every Mondays and Wednesdays for 1 hour.
The biggest problem was the lady boss ( girl's mom ) was not co-operative. When I was teaching her girl, the mom was playing Mahjong with her friends, watching TV with loud noises, screaming and scolding her son and many more. Obviously her girl couldn't concentrate, neither could I. Asked her mom to quieten down the noises or let us use a room to study quietly but she said :" No more room lah , we always like that what !"
I gave up the tuition job since I cannot help the poor child anymore. The environment and her mom aren't co-operative at all. That was the worst experience I ever had.
have you ever taught someone? What was your experience?

A tuition teacher means to teach the child how to do her homework, to understand the subject concept and to give her extra worksheet that her school teacher doesn't gives. Most teachers in school does not give one to one teaching.

Yes. I did some tutor with a grade schooler who happened to have problem with concentration and so I suggested his parents to drop their child at my place for him not to get distracted with other things around their very own place

My home was untidy and my mom wasn't co-operative either, so I had to go to the girl's house

@m_audrey6788 malaysia weather is really hot, there is no place to give tuition than at home where there is the ceiling fan moving. Garden and park are dangerous, those punk kids are there to create trouble.

@peachpurple that's the problem with some patents ...It's a triangle..The child, the teacher and the patents...They should know that

Now this would not be a Good experience, and makes me feel Sorry for the girl. When I was growing up my sister and I used to babysit this family with 5 kids. This family was Dirt poor, and the kids were lacking skills to be able to keep up. I tried to help these kids learn when I was there but for most of them it did no real good as it was not encouraged when I was not there.

Sad that the problem was not the student but the mother.
Yes, when I was young, a neighbor asked me to tuition her son and it went very well. I often used to help other kids with their homework.

So you call it like that there. Here we call it tutoring.
I only tutored our daughter when she was still in kinder until Grade 1. Then after that she doesn't want to be tutored anymore. She was the valedictorian when she graduated in primary school. Then a scholar until she graduated in medicine.

You need the right environment in order to teach. A child needs the right environment in order to learn. The mother created a situation where proper learning was not possible. It was a shame because the child is the one who will suffer!
